Ahoy there! Library threads are springing up in this forum, and I am late to the party!
I'm Sarah, I'm the reference librarian at the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library, and this is the thread for write-ins and other Nanowrimo or writing events at Hamilton-Wenham. Please treat us as a novel-friendly place to use any time we are open! Our hours are: Monday - Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sunday Closed
So far there are four scheduled write-ins at the library: Saturday, November 3rd, 10:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. Saturday, November 10th, 10:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. Saturday, November 17th, 10:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. Saturday, November 24th, 10:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
We have the Local History Room (2nd floor) to ourselves, so we can munch as long as we are tidy. It is BYOS: Bring Your Own Snacks. I will have coffee, and I'll probably bring cheese and crackers or something. Last year there was quite a spread.
Hamilton-Wenham Library has been declared closed for Monday in advance of the storm. Figured I would announce that here in the event that any of you lovely writers were planning to visit. Hope you have plenty of good books and movies on hand; myself, I will be using tomorrow to type out character sheets - at least, as long as there is power...
November is also the month for our Story Writing Contest. The Hamilton-Wenham Library Children's Room runs this contest in connection with the Nanowrimo Young Writers Program. Children 1st through 6th grade are invited to submit their stories by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 30th. There will be prizes, and the stories will be displayed here in the Children's Room and online.
This is our library's third year running the contest. Last year there were 22 stories submitted. It would be great if we could beat that number this year, so if you know someone in 1st through 6th grade (or fall within that range yourself), please get the word out! The contest is not restricted to Hamilton-Wenham residents.
Our number is 978-468-5577 if you have any questions.
Good morning Sarah, I was hoping to be able to take my place at the foot of the table, but events continue to conspire against me so I am not sure I will see you on the second floor today. I am up early and getting a few words down so I will not fall behind so early in the month. If I do not see all of you today, then next Saturday for sure! Enjoy, Carlee
Hey, I never thanked you all for coming out the other day! 12 "WriNoShores" attended Saturday's Hamilton-Wenham Library write-in, where we chatted, snacked, and wrote. I wrote some 2564 new words before we closed up shop; I was also happy because I actually got to play librarian and find books for people. If you ever need a Latin dictionary or a name for an evil spaceship, this is the place to go!

Much obliged to those of you who brought snacks as well. No writer will ever starve at one of these write-ins. ;)
I am impossibly thrilled. We had eleven both this Saturday and Saturday-last (the 10th), which are great numbers for me to report to my director. I have written so much during these write-ins, I would say 12-13k of my word count so far has been written in the company of "youse guys" (that includes this past Monday at Plum Island Roasters.)
Thank you to all who came today, and thank you also to Lynne for the delicious chili. 8)
Last write-in at the Hamilton-Wenham Library today! Not that you can't still come write in, it's just we won't have a room blocked out or tasty treats. (Or star stickers. Because herodotusismyhero has just announced that she plans to hit 50k today.)
So come on in and work off the turkey haze! Whatever your word count may be, we all have the same number of days, hours, minutes, and seconds to go. Get writing!
