Amazing Comebacks?

I could use some inspiration from stories of amazing NaNoWriMo comebacks. I started slow last year and won, but I just now closing in on 10K and with only 10 days left would love to hear that others have been farther behind and rallied to make it. Anyone?

last year, when i was going for 100,000, i was way more than 40k behind on the 20th and headed down to texas for thanksgiving. didn't quite get to 100k, but i wrote 40k in ten days, and i'm not all that fast a typist. you can do it!!

I came into the final weekend 13k words behind a couple of years back. 2,500 words one day ... and a 10,600 word sprint on the final day of Nano to verify within minutes of the midnight deadline. Crazy, but fun!

Well I don't have any stories from previous years because this is my first time trying this...

But I will say that last week I got nearly nothing done, and while I had been ahead I was quickly falling behind and was starting to get pretty worried about it.

I buckled down though and told my husband to watch the baby for a few hours one afternoon and then put in some time later that night, then followed up the next day with a few hours at the library and got a good 10K written in two days. Since then (okay that was today) I've been keeping up with at least the daily par and should hopefully finish on time :)

For me at least it has just been an issue of blocking off a few hours each day to sit down and type. So find yourself some free time and you can catch up! :)

I'm currently attempting to make an amazing comeback myself. I came in this morning at around 30,000 words. I wrote until I reached 5,000 words at the write-in tonight. I'm right now at 37,900. I basically needed to write 20,000 words in the span of today, tomorrow, and Wednesday. If I can keep up at the rate I am going right now, I could possibly make it. If not, at least I tried.

Amazing comeback of the year? Frosty's furious mad dash at the gate ends in victory with hours to spare!
