TGIOn., adj. "Thank Goodness It's Over." Often precedes "party." Time of celebration for making it through the event called NaNoWriMo with one's sanity intact.
Yes, it's almost time for the TGIO! As per popular demand, we're not at a restaurant this year! We're having a potluck instead at the HEIGHTS, the Richmond Heights Community Center (near the HWY 40 and Hanley intersection; 8001 Dale Avenue, Richmond Heights, MO 63117) on December 3, 3-5 pm. We'll be in one of the multipurpose rooms. Look for signs!
Please post here with what food or drink item you're bringing. We also need cups and plates, and utensils and napkins. We estimated 30-50 people, so choose your item accordingly. Please, no alcohol or glass bottles.
We humbly ask that only participants attend, so we can get as many Wrimos as we can in the space. If you need a driver or parent to come along, that is fine. You do NOT have to have won NaNo to join us. As long as you wrote something, you're in.
The festivities will have to end promptly at 5; another group has the room after us. But there should be plenty of time for good eats, board games (bring your favorite) and karaoke (are you brave enough?). Come celebrate this crazy month of literary abandon!
I'm pretty sure they would not like pizza delivered there (it might be considered an outside vendor, which has to be approved ahead of time). But I don't think they would object if you brought the pizza yourself. You could also try calling the facility just to ask what their rules are, which is probably the best course anyway.
I am definitely coming. I just have to figure out what I will be bringing, besides Zombie Dice. Should we be thinking meal-like stuff, or party snacks?
It's up to you, really; if you don't think you can make steak for 30, go for snacks ;) Kidding. I'm just hoping we don't have 30 kinds of cookies and no actual food group members.
I'll be coming, presuming I'm not still sick by then. (I know it's a long way off, but these allergy/sinus things hang around forever sometimes.)
As to food to bring...hmm...it'd have to be something I could buy, rather than make, so...knowing me, it'll probably be something like a couple of bags of Chex Mix.
I'm planning on coming, unless I book a gig somewhere. Not sure what I'm bringing yet, I'll watch to see what others bring, so I can fill in with what is needed, but it will likely be one of the following: - hummus plate (I confess, my hummus is awesome) - cranberry walnut scones - egg salad sandwiches OR all three! Cooking is one of my only hobbies
I will be there if I'm feeling better too (boy do I hear ya, SierraLatkje!). I will bring some sort of gluten-free snack depending on what I'm up for making. If I land on something, I'll be sure no one here has posted it and then I'll post it.
I'm not sure yet whether I'll be able to make it or not, but I'm going to try. I'll have to check my calendar at work and then come back to say for sure one way or the other.
Sadly, I am not going to be able to make it. I have all day training scheduled for that day. Whoever brings the Orange Crush, please drink a toast in my name so I can be there with all of you in spirit. (Well, technically not "spirit" since Crush is alcohol-free, but the sentiment remains the same.

I'll be there.
Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
I will be there. I'll bring a TGIO cake to celebrate!
Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
Even though I'm not a "winner" I can be there (Karaoke is good). Bringing soda and maybe some utensils, I guess.
Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
Jen,
Is it possible to have pizza delivered to the center?

Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
You had me at 'karaoke machine'.
I'll try to bring some delicious guacamoles, but it might be hard to find good avocados in St. Louis in December.
Failing that, maybe some brownies?
Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
If we go pizza, I vote "support the local businesses" - Pointers is definitely within delivery range and they make great pizza!
Count me and Ali as attending too.

Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
What's wrong with 30 kinds of cookies?
I'll be there, and will bring chips and dip of some sort. Or maybe rye bread and dill dip. One of those 2. :)

Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
Some family stuff just came up. Can't make it after all. :(
Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
I will attempt to be there, but I might be a) covered in paint or b) covered in a lot of paint. I'll bring Dr Pepper and a meat & cheese platter.
Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
I'll be there. Bringing a veggie plate.

Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
I'll be there. Not sure what I'm bringing - but it will have cheese, or eggs, or some kind of protein.
Has anyone thought about someplace nearby to go have a drink or two after the venue closes at 5 PM? I'd be up for that, too.
Re: TGIO Party--RSVP Here!
2590 words to go. I plan on attending. I can bring three bags of potato chips. See you there!
