Sorry for the triple post. I hit submit once, but the site froze on me and kicked me out.

I know it was probably a forum glitch but it still hurts.

Yeah, I switched from IE8 to Firefox. Otherwise I couldn't see the purple bars. Now I can.

My novel's been finished since the 22nd, then I spent a day on the afterword and getting the list of characters and proper nouns prepared. Then I spent two freakin' days just writing little descriptive bits for every single character, place name and patronymic in the book. Because I'll mention a character and then won't mention them again for 100 pages, so I thought readers might get a little lost without a handy guide at the back of the book.

So my last two days have been full of "Alexander--Better known as Paris. Son of Priam and Hecabe." and "Ithaca--Island nation to the west of mainland Greece. Ruled by Odysseus." And trying to sum up the Olympian gods in a few measly sentences. So boring!

But the little purple bar is nice!

I'm going to add in another chapter in the middle to celebrate the little purple bar. I've been thinking I shouldn't have left out Palamedes. After all, how many people can outwit Odysseus, right?

This year working retail has really sucked the life and energy out of me. Oddly enough I've been typing over 3000 a day after Black Friday. Evidently the busier I get the more inspired I get? I don't get to type till the lil ones are in bed though or during lunch/dinner breaks at the mall. :) But I promised myself I'll get to 50000 and I plan to maybe keep that promise to myself... :) To the rest of you all. I finished my MS's 1st draft, but it needs heavy revising done still. I can't wait until it's novel worthy. XD

Hit mine tonight! And right on the money! I was actually one word short when I did my last sentence, so I found a spot to add word. ;)

Don't know if it is at all decent, and right now I don't care. This is my first year doing this, and the first time I have ever finished a story that could even pretend to be something other than a short story. So even if it is awful I feel great at finishing it! Whoo!

by the way, according to scrivener, I had 50,014 words, but when I validated, my count miraculously changed (on the nano site) to 51924. If I'd known that was going to happen, I wouldn't have validated sooner!

Meredith, I'm with you. I've started novels before, and they are around here somewhere, but this is my first time doing nanowrimo, and my first complete first draft. It's far from being ready to publish, and I have all kinds of revisions in mind, but it is also amazing to me that I got this far, and I plan to continue to toy with it until I really feel like it's done.

Hang in there, the rest of you, and keep typing! You can do it!

I hit 50k about 1 AM. I feel so good. Little tired, brain's a little mushy but OW! I FEEL GOOD. Da na na nuh! SO GOOD! SO NICE!

gak! why am i reading the forums with nearly 8k to go?

It's my first year doing Nano too. Been wanting to for a year and a half now, but things came up to keep me from participating.. I'm just glad it worked out this year and I finished, so that's a double bonus. XD
