Re: Stumbling Blocks

it will be... when you edit, take out every third word and it will be hilarious. For now, Add the words bulbous, penile or throbbing to every sentence. That should do the trick.

Okay-- another important thing is, if it's making you stumble, DON'T READ back what you've already written. Don't give yourself a chance to like or dislike. Move forward, start from a new place each time. This not only keeps you from despair, it can jumpstart the good stuff. More ways to do that:

Rewrite afresh a scene you've written, without deleting the old one (you never know what tidbits you'll need in the big edit) but put it in a different location, or change one of the players, or write it from a different point of view, or cast it completely into dialogue if it wasn't before, or take half the dialogue from one character and give it to a new one. Don't worry about sticking to plot-- plot is character. Show us who they are, put them in ridiculous places, they'll be funny.

I've always thought that I don't use the word bulbous enough, that's good advice...

I could also use help from my fellow Nanites on this one: if you were the last person on earth and you were to drive across post-zombie apocalyptic America in a Winnebago, what would you name it? I have a total blank on that, I've been calling it the "Poon Lim" (named after a guy who survived for over 100 days at sea on a raft

I'd call it Betty. Definitely Betty. Or possibly Bandit (my current car's name).

I too vote Betty. It'll seem totally out of place and sound lie the character is referring to their great aunt :D

I'm digging Betty? I know most Winnebagos are white, but it would be cool if it was black. Do you know that song? Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)!
