Day 4 of NaNoWriMo: Lesson learned last night - probably the best reason I should write EVERY day is that it doesn't give me much time to think in between scenes. This works because I then find my story leads me instead of me leading my story. WOW! Worth the price of admission!
Days 4-5 of NaNoWriMo: Lesson learned sometime between 11pm and 2am - A little competition between friends is healthy, but NaNo can make it dangerous. One of my friends got just a little too close to my word count so i just HAD to go on a 5,000 word writing spree into the wee hours of the morning. Tired now.
So sorry to hear, N! Glad you are doing better today.
Suggestion to Wrimos: don't stop writing at a scene end. End in the middle of something going on so that you can more easily get going on your writing the next day.
Lesson Learned, also learned sometime between 11pm and 2am on the 4th and 5th days. Don't do Nano alone. No one besides a crazy nanoer would stay up till 2am to write with you. I <3 my Nano friends
Lesson Learned, people should only be trusted if they own a sock monkey hat. And the only way to separate your true friends from the posers is to ask them to do NaNo with you. They don't have to win, just stick it out with you until the very end.
Lesson Learned: Have parents kidnapped before November 1! My dad just caused me to delete my entire file of my novel! 10k words just did a swirly and now i have to start over! *sigh* time to go start over I guess. Hope I can pull off a few big number days again!
On the idea of ending in the middle... definitely use that if it works for you, BUT if like me, you HAVE TO read what you wrote yesterday to pick up today (and EDIT what you wrote yesterday), then don't stop in the middle, stop at the end....
But DO keep a running list of needed scenes... for instance one scene I wrote needed three more scenes, a set-up scene, a deal with it scene, and another related scene... when you have a list of scenes... and maybe even a few notes (SCRIVENER is great for keeping these notes)... it's easy to pick a scene to get started with.
It's amazing what one can do with a few found hours! I was so behind in word count that I took those "found" hours (a.k.a. had off from work and internship!), turned on some music, and just wrote. I managed to pump out almost 5k words! Now, I'm back on track! I have another day tomorrow that I can spend a couple of hours increasing that word count.
I may bomb my midterm for this...but I'm having so much fun! Besides, I can count this as counselor self-care...XD

Lessons Learned:
I'm not as good of a typist as I thought I was. I learned this by not editing every word I write.
Liquid Story Binder's word count decrease word count helps me reach my goal by seeing the numbers decrease quickly!
Re: NaNoWriMo Learnings
Lesson learned:
Keep some wordcount in the bank (i.e. write a little more than you "have to" every day, to allow for illness.
:-(
I hate being sick and not being able to write.
But today is better. :-)

Lesson Learned:
When your friends boast about their wordcounts, they only do it to motivate you...Unless they post said wordcounts on Facebook. Then it's war!
