Hey all! I know some of you probably think twitter is silly, but I'm sure a lot of you probably use it. I know I do! I love it in a weird, narcissistic way. Also, it helps me connect with other authors and old friends, and even keeps me in the know on important current events. It's a worthy tool, in my opinion.
So, I thought since many of us probably don't want to give out our cell phone numbers for texting purposes, and since some of us won't be able to make write-ins, and since some of the write-ins are last minute and unplanned... let's use a conversation hashtag!
I thought we'd keep it short and simple. Every time you tweet something that you want to put out to the WNY NaNoWriMo community, use #WNYNaNo in your tweet. (or #wnynano, it doesn't matter) Examples:
"@madelineclaire_ Hey #WNYNaNo peeps! Anyone in SoBuff want to write at Caz Coffee?"
or
"@madelineclaire_ stuck at 20k, doubting all ability to write. Anyone want to harass me into action? #WNYNaNo"
or
"@madelineclaire_ hey #WNYNaNo, @teenWriMo1 needs a ride to the write in tonight! Anyone in her area?"
You get the idea. Right?
If you'd like, you can also leave your twitter username here so we can all do some "follow me, I follow back" or such nonsense. (I'm @madelineclaire_, if you couldn't tell ;D) And if you DON'T have a twitter account... maybe you should seriously reconsider that.
All about it! Do you know about the Social Media Club Buffalo? I know some of us SMC-ers are doing NaNo, and would be all about using twitter to set up write-ins (write-in flash mobs? This could get outta hand). Follow me @eschumer, we can make sweet magic happen.
Or, you know, get so caught up in this novel-writing madness that we forget all about it. Either way.
Lol - I haven't used Twitter in a long time - and I just signed on. Apparently the last time I used it was Nov 29 2009 and my tweet was: finished 50,000 words today! woot! #nanowrimo That has to be a good omen, right? So anyway, I think I'll start peeking in there as well.
I'm following all of you. . .bwah hah hah (sorry, inner stalker leaked out) n_taber on twitter (photo of hedgehog) Google + Probably Jen Taber. (photo of tissue ghost/doll head with red marker hair) Jennifer Roush Taber on FB. (photo of me in a gray cube)
I am going to try (TRY!) to keep up on all this social media. :-)
Twitter things!
