Want to host your own write-in? http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/forums/usa-tennessee-elsewhere/threads/10975 Scarletfury Since I know our region is pretty far out, y'all are welcome to host some events of your own if there is nothing close enough to your area. Here are a few guidelines to work with, Things to consider: The ideal location should have: * Accessible power outlets * Adequate and reasonably comfortable seating (for about 5-10 Wrimos, you can estimate and round up to be on the safe side) * A good location: Ideally with decent parking * A public space (not restricted) preferably with food/drink that isn't TOO expensive * Wifi is very preferable, but not required, as is caffeine The ideal time should be: * 1 to 2 hours (or more if people wish to stay) seems to be the preferred time * At least once a week, every week, at the same time (Thanksgiving Thurs/Fri exempted) Get it booked! Feel free to post on the forums or talk with other Wrimos in your area to get feedback on locations and times. When you've decided on a time and place, send me(Scarletfury) a PM with the following information: * Day of the week/dates and time (e.g., Thursdays, 7-9PM) * Location (include name and full address for the GPSers) * Anything else Wrimos should know (i.e., “The parking is around the back” “Look for the short girl in the highlighter-colored shirt”) I will add your event to the Google Calendar and voila! Please feel free to advertise it on the forums as well as word of mouth. It also helps to speak with the managers/owners of the location you have selected, particularly if you are expecting a number of people or if their location is small, so they will be prepared for hordes of writing nerds. Some may even offer discounts! On the day of the write-in: Naturally, you should show up to your own writein, preferably early. If for some reason you can't make it, be sure to let people know on the forums or otherwise. If you'd like some printable goods, I have different ones I use for write-ins, PM me and let me know. Come prepared with: * Yourself * Your laptop or other writing utensil * A power strip (trust me, you will need one if you are expecting folks to come armed to write!) * Some way of identifying your group (a highlighter-colored shirt, a stuffed panda, a sign, etc.) Got your write-in organized?
