This might be kind of silly, but I thought I would post and see if anyone's interested.
I'm a very visual/aural thinker, so images and music are a big part of my writing process. I'm also a designer by trade, which interacts with my writing in weird ways. One of these is that when I start a story, regardless of how long it is, one of the first things I do is make a cover/poster for it.
I like this for a couple of reasons: 1) It forces me to narrow down my overarching theme. 2) It makes me focus on what's important. 3) It helps me establish in my head what the tone should be. 4) It helps me figure out what symbols and motifs I want to be important. 5) There are other reasons, but it's 2:30 in the morning and I want to sleep.
If there are other people who think this is interesting and would like to try it, but don't have the design capabilities to do it themselves, I would be happy to make something. I'm always looking for opportunities to practice my photoshop/illustrator skills, and it's fun, besides. When I get to the lab tomorrow I'll post the one I made for my NaNo story this year, I need to tweak a couple of things.
So if you want one, send me a message/comment here with whatever you think should be on your cover, what it should convey, etc, and I'll put something together. Just for funsies, though, so it probably won't get done until after Tuesday–busy weekend ahead.
Also, I think if anyone else does this and would like to share their work, I for one would love to see it!

Awesome! This sounds like a great idea. Can't wait to see your work.
Sweet! Can't wait to see it! And I'll likely be asking for one as well once I get ideas for my story and everything. :)
So this is the one I'm using right now.

I'd like to hear you guys' thoughts about what it means. :)
Also, definitely, Petey :) I'd be happy to!
Hmmm, for me it speaks to someone on the edge of throwing their current self away, either in desperate agony or for a determined new beginning.
Hit the nail on the head. :) Yay!
I like the cover. What does it mean? Hmm..."Sexy & Single in Autumn?" :-D
One quick comment: I might space more between kat & hinson. Right now it looks a bit like "kathinson." Unless that's intentional?
Oh goodness. No, definitely not. :P
No, it's just the typeface. I'll probably adjust the kerning a bit.
it looks great! all I can think is that the girl must have an amazing core to hold herself up like that. :)
Thanks!
Also, I lol'd. :D
Thats really good! It vaguely reminds me of John Green's ' A fault in our stars' cover.
Haha, yeah, I can definitely see that. I love that cover so much, it's so simple and gorgeous. I love most of his book covers, actually.
