I don't know how many of you play video games. But Skyrim is coming out in about 3 weeks. Write in the middle of this venture.

300+ hours of gameplay, beautiful scenery, the ability to punch a dragon in the face (the only reason I will be leveling up my hand to hand skill, I'm more of a blades and marksman guy).

My social life will be gone...wait I don't have one.

Anyways, those who will be playing Skyrim, what are you looking forward to about the game, apart from Dragons, because who isn't looking forward to that.

Personally, the updated AI system and the new leveling system look pretty intersting.

Oh lord, yes. xD ... I mean, I've been on a huge Fallout: new Vegas bender as of late, so have been really wrapped up in it, and I don't usually buy games on the release (because I can't afford to x_x), but Skyrim. Looks. Amazing.

I agree - new AI! Yay, and if I recall, new engine, correct? I'm very excited to see this new engine.

I think I'll most definitely be keeping up with Skyrim, until I can get it, which is what I usually do - check out enough without spoiling it for myself. I'm normally pretty much a long-range fighter, going mainly on Fallout, it's always Guns, and Speech for me. Punching a dragon in the face. Sounds freaking epic! :D

I preordered it and amazon should (hopefully) get it to me on the 11th. I'm super excited! I'm glad the AI will be upgraded and you can even have companions. Hopefully they are worth a damn. I really like my dog in Fallout 3, he's pretty handy.

I like magic and swords, so I'll probably be a battlemage. Never been much for stealth, though the few stealth missions I've done have been pretty fun. But seriously, suit me up and give me a sword. I'll just run in and beat the crap out of those dragons!

Stop right there, criminal scum!

I'm looking forward to Skyrim, but I already have a massive backlog of games to play. I might just hold off on buying in for a while.

Fallout is great, and I am just a big Bethesda fan.

But yeah new engine - radiant AI, meaning the story will tailor itself to your style. If you don't do stealth, there will be a lack of stealth missions, if you don't do magic, a lack of magic heavy missions. At least this is how I understood it, correct me if I'm wrong.

I've got the collectors edition preorder, yes $125, I must have spent three weeks of paycheck on it. I know, bad me, but I kept seeing screen shots and it's just so beautiful. I think I will spend time climbing to the top of some mountain and just sitting there looking out over the vista.

Oh my god I can't wait! I have been so hyped for this game since... well, it seems like forever!

We'll be having two copies of it in our house (one PC one Xbox) so my partner and I can both play at the same time, or else there might me an all-out battle. My partner is lucky that his PC copy will be ready to download on the day whenever he wants. I will have to run to town after the school run to grab my console copy.

Aaaah, seriously cannot wait for this! Only downside is that it comes out during NaNo, and I don't know if I'll be able to stop myself from playing lol.

I got hooked on Oblivion recently so I think I'll keep working through that, but the fact that Skyrim looks so awesome is very tempting. However, I will be away from my Xbox for at least a month following NaNo, so spending more money on it probably not a good plan.

But I want it soooo bad! I'm resisting, but barely, so far.

My hubby is a huge fan of Skyrim. SO when I saw it was coming out in November. I pre-ordered it for him. That way he wont be bored while I am writing and I wont be telling him to stop asking me about my novel progress.
So now we will both enjoy November :) I've got him reading a few books for the first few days.

Good lord, I've had this preordered since June. I'm gonna have to work hard at balancing this release with NaNo. Hopefully use it as my carrot at the end of a stick. Radiant AI has got me pretty excited, and of course the dragon companion(?), they announced recently. Pretty awesome to be able to have a summonable dragon to assist you in battle.

First thing I'm gonna do, is stand in the middle of a town and call that thing out. Wreak havoc on the small minded peasants and such. C:<

It is *so* *so* *so* good. G4 has basically called it possibly the greatest interactive art/design (game) ever made. And, at this point... I'm having a hard time disagreeing.

I'm pretty pumped for Skyrim, but I'm holding off because I'm 99% sure it'll go on sale on Steam for Christmas. Although I'm not even sure if my computer can run it, but I can't get it for PS3 because... mods!

Oh, and could anyone tell me if the guards are still super-strong psychic hive-mind demons? Because that was preeeetty ridiculous in Oblivion.

Crimes are remembered only by those who saw them (unless they call the guards) and even then it is only within the hold that you have a bounty, so if you cmmit a crime in Whiterun and get caught then you would have a clean record in Markath, or any other town really.

Yeah me too...it was almost scary now much of a collective mind they were. One time, I was being my evil guy, Adrian, and I was running through the dungeons. Then I wandered into the barracks...stupid idea. I burst in and they all stand up, draw their swords and say AT THE SAME TIME, "DIE, CRIMINAL SCUM!"
O_o that was a little weird.

Skyrim is awesome. To give you an example . . . (SPOILERS . . . though it's probably stuff you've already heard of.)

I climb up a mountain, going through various (beautifully designed) dungeons along the way, picking up a very impressive amount of loot (much better than Oblivion). I stop a group of guards taking a prisoner off to execute by fighting with my various combinations of the powerful bow and arrow, supercharged double-handed lightning spells, and two-handed battleaxes, complete with awesome animations and superb particle effects. The man I rescue gives me some useful information about the Thieve's Guild in return, giving me some nice leads.

Suddenly, there is a roar, and completely dramatic music begins playing. A dragon soars abovehead, scorching the ground with his fiery breath. It lands, and I stagger toward it, shield raised to block the brunt of the fire. I swing my sword, crashing through its skull. It staggers back.

A surge of adrenaline surging through me, I leap into the air. I swipe my sword as I land on the dragon, and an awesome slow-mo ensues as I stab it through its neck. It dies, and its energy flows into me.

I look into the stunning horizon, the elegant ambient music settling back in. The sun rises in the horizon, casting a morning glow upon the plains and the city. I shout into the distance, the words of power surging through me.

In short, this game makes me feel completely badass.

(Sorry for the rant. I had to get it out somehow.)

TINY POTENTIAL SPOILERS - VERY TINY, BUT STILL...

I need to share a story, to explain why these types of games are the best, hands down with open world gameplay and unscripted experiences. There's tiny amounts of spoiler- and I mean *TINY*. (If you've watched any pre-release video or just heard the basic premise for Skyrim's plot, it's covered in that.)

So, I'm wandering through the landscape to meet up with someone at a particular tomb/dungeon. I'm playing a Wood Elf Ranger/Archer archetype. As I'm crossing the landscape as the crow flies, I see a huge bonfire upcoming. I think, hmm, what's this? As I approach, I see a camp of 4 Giants with 3-4 Wooly Mammoths. I think, well, darn... I don't know if they're "bad"/monsters or if they're maybe willing to talk/trade! So, I walk slowly toward their camp in the open, weapons lowered.

The nearest Giant sees me, and answers my question when, after two steps to reach me, his oversized club THWOMPS me on the head, staggering me all over the place as I frantically panic sprint away. Of course, I'm nowhere near faster then they are, and now I have all 7-8 chasing me. The only thing saving me is (SPOILER ALERT AGAIN) my whirlwind thu'um, letting me sprint 30 yards forward and give me a few precious moments to recover.

Soon, I start finding rock outcroppings to place between us, causing them to have to redirect. So I'm running backwards, chucking arrows as fast as possible at anything moving. Suddenly, since they're split up now, I find a group of 2 Giants and 2 Mammoths in front of me. The others are coming from another direction. I'm thinking, "DEAD!"

Next thing I know, the pile of 4 in front of me is being showered by a blast of Frost- from the sky! I look up, trying to figure out what the heck just happened, in time to see a dragon! fly right over my head before circling around and landing in front of those 4. Next thing I know, the other group is running to the dragon, and there's a huge fight going on. I, being a clever- and still living- wood elf, start launching arrows as rapidly as possible. Soon, the group overwhelms the dragon- which I never fired a shot at- and kills it.

Thank you dragon, for your noble sacrifice (considering *I* was supposed to kill you!) After the fight, the dragon (and I) had taken out 2 Mammoths and 2 Giants, and the others were all wounded to some degree. I still have a tough fight left. This time, I sprint (normally) right at them. Knowing I'm going to get hit at least once, I reach into inventory and down a fortify health potion and a stamina regeneration potion (so I'll be able to run right away), then switch to an armor buffering spell just in case. (LOVE the interface, makes is possible to do all that "on the fly", in a way).

Now that I arrived, staring a mammoth in the face, I use my Wood Elf power- Suddenly, I have a Mammoth fighting for me for the next minute, who turns, knocks a Giant away 10 feet, and starts fighting the other Mammoth. I have already whirlwind sprinted away, and am now regularly sprinting to gain extra distance.

By this point, both Mammoths are seriously wounded, the one Giant is VERY injured, and the other is still ok, but I quickly take out the two Mammoths, the hurt Giant and the last was easy, since I only had one guy to run from.

I stop and breathe (really, I was holding my breath the whole fight) and begin to loot and survey the area. I grab what I can off the bodies and waltz over to grab my FREE dragon soul, but the next day (in game) I make my way back to the scene. There were like, 150 arrows I ended picking up off the landscape from frantic shots and misses.

Anyways... THAT is why it's amazing. I could play 100 times after this and NEVER have that happen. EVER. And that is what I love so much. NO scripted sequences. Just random nonsense that sometimes turns out silly, and sometimes makes for the most memorable game experiences you'll ever have.

I played Skyrim....I got it on the first day it came out, 11/11/11...and...OMGOMGOMGOMG IT WAS SO FLIPPING AWEEEEESOME. The battles are harder, now you can't tromp around like a freaking superhuman, killing people in one hit. I have it on medium...and that's very, very hard. Just fightnig one bandit can get you killed...the graphics are flipping amazing. It looks real life! And I love how when you jump in a river, the current actually carries you and before in Oblivian, the snow would fall through the leaves which was pretty fake, but now they are actually stopped!
So. Flipping. EPIC.
