I've been keeping it alive by the skin of my teeth, often being the only one online for months on end. But it's still there. Malveka helped me to get it to level 2, Dragonea to level 3, Graedis (sp?) to level 4. Chek and Graedis are back. I got an in-game mail from Traveller but haven't seen him online. So just three of us right now.
The purpose of the guild is social, to provide a way for WoW players to procrastinate from Nanowrimo for short periods with others who will be willing to support you to get back to your writing. We have even been known to have Word Wars and Writing Challenges! :`)
The guild was originally set up by Teacake (so blame her for it being Alliance! lol) Then the torch was passed to Dragonea. I inherited it from her and now I can't remember how long I've been Guild Leader. But then my horrible memory is epic. I'm sure Teacake or Dragonea, both of whom have younger brains than mine, will be able to tell you.
Anyone away for more than a year has been removed from the guild due to potential hacked accounts, and of course would be welcomed back wholeheartedly at any time. Simply join the nanowrimo chat channel ( /join nanowrimo) and tell us your nano forum name. Or if you can remember anyone's names add them to your friend's list and if we are online whisper one of us to invite you.
The previous note also goes out to anyone who would like to join us for the first time. Make a toon on Misha server, Alliance side, follow the instructions in the previous paragraph. Say hello here also, so that we know it is you asking for membership.
Thanks, all. Best of luck with Nano this year and see you in WoW!
~ SJ (Sjaneila) --and all alts with names ending in "sjeia" eg, Besjeia
Great people, good guild, have lots of good memories of Misha and specifically, this guild. I'm glad to see it's still going and pleased and honored that one of my alts is still in the guild. A big hello to Sjaneila.
I knew I couldn't be the only nano-er that wow'ed!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited and so bored with my novel that I made a new toon on Misha just to join your guild. But I am not finding it. I assumed it would have Nanowrio Procrastinator somewhere in the name, but I did not see it.
What exactly is the name of your guild and will you take one more nano procrastinator that just likes questing way too much for her good?
We are Nanowrimo Procrastinator - no s because we ran out of characters when the guild was first made, and it's pretty neat since our guild name looks like a fancy little label this way.
If you do a guild search for NaNoWrimo someone would pop up if they're on. Generally I'm on 7-9ish server time, and the others a bit earlier than me. We can also make arrangements for me (or anyone else able) to pop in game and invite you.
Yes it's a US server. You are welcome to join us whenever you feel the need to kvetch about your novel, have your inner editor locked up, or need a quick warmup word war! Or even just level a toon.

Good to see it's still around, at least. lol
Aww.. Sorry we had such an ill effect on you. lol You are welcome to join us at any time of the year, y'hear? Even at non-guilt-inducing times.
I'll have to do that. I'm part of a well established and supportive 10-man raiding guild now, so I spend a large majority of my playing time there, but it's *good* to be around other writers at least once in a while. Especially ones who actually understand why I torture myself like this once a year. hahaha
Hey, what party? I am still on the server with all my alts, and I've been playing sporadically throughout the year. Moonage is in her 60s now and I also have Bryxie and Styxie and some other alts I can't remember right now. See you soon!
And even if it ain't official, I am totally going to be lurking somewhere for an online kickoff on Cheklov! And then I will promptly freak out and start typing while fighting Murlocs, mostlike.
Hahah! I'd love to be there for that! Unfortunately as I said in the email I hit the pillow, turned off the lights and watched my story writing itself for an hour before I gave up and went out and started a night long writing session. *sigh* Going back to bed soon.
Moonage! Hiya! It was a very small Hallow's End Wand party. Congrats on hitting lvl 60! My Mage just hit lvl 62 --just got the breadcrumb quest to Telhamet. Dhilokee is leveling there too. Drop in an join us when you need to procrastinate, :`D
Nice Avatar ya got there! Love the way the Halo looks like a large propeller. lol
Yes, isn't this avatar lovely? It was a very thoughtful and beautiful gift from a thoughtful and beautiful Guild Leader!
I definitely want leveling buddies, since Outland is so awful. Hope to see you online soon, although I have not logged in yet -- only just barely making my word counts by the skin of my teeth so far.
I was going to take my mage through outland with Chek (Dhiloki) but she's already out paced me while I slogged away at my word count. lol Deira is lvl 62 though so she can port herself to Shattrath.
Hello! Another year of NaNo, another year of wondering if little Eury the gnome warlock is going to get any playtime. She had a burst of playtime in late October and a bit a few weeks ago, and she's now actually level 26 instead of still languishing at 12 like she had the previous three years.
Jander, as for the guild history, I was checking creation dates for all my WoW characters a few months ago, and Eury was started on 11/8/2007. I believe that's the year that the guild was first founded by teacake. I also think there are ways in game to check when a guild was founded, but it's been a few years since I was a guild leader so I don't remember them. If you're just going for when you took the reins, what was going on in game when you became the leader? Was Wrath out yet? What about the Argent Tournament? Random Dungeon Finder? Cata? If you want, I can give you a rough guess of when each was.
Eurydice wrote: [...] If you're just going for when you took the reins, what was going on in game when you became the leader? Was Wrath out yet? What about the Argent Tournament?
Meh, Thanks but my memory just doesn't work that way (when it works at all!). Been playing WoW forever it seems. One expac blends into another... I think it was in the guild's second year though. Teacake or Dragonea will be able to tell us. So no worries. lol
We added two new members to the guild last night. NanoWorgen, withwhom I've been chatting for over a year on a variety of subjects. He's giving Nano a second try this year.
And Ambrozya, who decided in the last 15 mins before Nano-launch to jump into the guild on her first Alliance toon in a long time! Also a Worgen.
Can't wait to see all those numbers start climbing in the word counts!
We now have a guild forum/website thing! It's…uh, empty at the moment, but soon there will be stuff! As soon as I meet my wordcount for the day, that is. >.>
I'll post a link as soon as I get it semi-functional. (Boss, I'll send you a NaNo mail with more info/admin access once I'm able.)
I've been negligent in my WoW-ing for several months, and horribly neglectful of Rugs, my NaNo Procrastinating dwarf rogue. But I hereby resolve to get on and figure out where the heck she is and what she's up to this week. But not tonight. Or tomorrow (damn social life).
I just want to say something I think is important.
Week two is coming up fast! Remember that week two is all about getting through. One word in front of another, slog it out until you are out of the doldrums and sailing into the brisk fresh air of your novelling again!
And remember this: You are all winners now! Every word you've written so far is a win! Cause it's words that you had teh courage and passion to write! Love ya all!
There's nothing excerpt worthy of what I've written yet. It's all been build up. Only got to the good stuff now. Trust me, you do not want to read about my MC standing around at a high school reunion, wondering why she came and if anyone will actually talk to her.
I feel like I've been laying a ton of groundwork and have very little action and then I get bored and doldrummy.*
I've found a way to fix that for myself is to put at least one of my characters in a life threatening (or perceived life-threatening situation--even a dream sequence of a life-threatening situation will do)) and have at it. Seems to be good for a couple thousand words and primes the pump a bit.
Oh, Mia! I'm thoroughly impressed by your excerpt! You had me on the edge of my seat. I felt like I was right there in the action. I wanted to grab his shirt with both hands and pull him up, too! I love how each character was an individual with their own way of reacting to the crisis. When this get published I want to read it so bad. lol
I wrote so few words yesterday that I didn't bother to update my wordcount. But taking a day off helped. My goal for today is a 5k sprint. Join me if you want. I challenge you! ;`)
Also, my excerpts from my nanowrimo novel MENTOR, with illustrations are here (scroll down to the 2011 Day 01 and read up): http://www.30characters.com/author/j-s-rowe/ Leave a comment there and let me know what you think. Thanks!
I will accept your challenge, but for tomorrow! Since I have to work and then a road trip home tonight - I'm not counting anything I write tonight towards the 5k. I still have tons of stuff to do tomorrow, BUT I won't be driving. It's hard to meet word counts while driving.
WILL YOU ACCEPT THIS SLIGHTLY ALTERED CHALLENGE RESPONSE, BOSS?
I'm going to try for it (5K) again on Monday(all are welcome to join me!), since I got invited to the SWtOR beta stress test over this weekend. So far it's not only tons of fun, it's... really satisfying I'm just sorry that Mal and Drag couldn't do it too so we could have stress-tested grouping up.
Doing the two challenges in november (nano AND 30 Characters in 30 days) is taxing enough with out adding in weekend beta testing as well as moving out everything in the bedroom to make room for a new king size bed, assembling said bed, washing the new king sized pad and sheet sets etc., plus now having a massive allergy attack from all the dust disturbed by the cleaning.
My dedication to my nanonovel shows by the fact that I have got another 3k done since my last update. Mostly done while TOR was downloading and installing it huge 20 GIGAbytes. :`D
I have written 5k in a day exactly twice. Both were on a weekend. One of those was the Sunday after Wrath came out and I realized I'd gone three days without writing a thing and if I didn't get my butt in gear, my writing group would forever mock me for not winning because of a video game. I have a feeling I couldn't do a 5k day on a Wednesday when I don't get home from work until after 7. Good luck to you though. :)
I laughed at the 5k response to Wrath because I totally understand that. I was at 40k, including doing the night-of-release GameStop wait with a laptop, when I brought home my copy of Wrath. On the 28th I thought "Well crap, I have one max level character and another on the way, but no 50k" and just couldn't have that. I banged on the keyboard all day on the 30th to cross that 50k line. It wasn't my highest word count day ever, but it was close!
Since I'm just getting started now (8:30pm), I doubt I will hit 5000k today. :-) Would be nice to do 2000+ and get caught up a little, so I'll see if I can buckle down.
Sorry. I guess it wasn't clear in the title of this post. The name of the guild is "Nanowrimo Procrastinator". It gives you a huge label under your name so that everyone on the server can shame you to go back to writing. :`)
But seriously that is the name. Been too busy to get online myself lately. will try to check in later tonight. circa midnight est maybe. I have lots of writing to do before we leave for North Carolina on Saturday.
I'm feeling a little daunted by the challenges I set myself today. 5k for nano and three character pieces for the 30characters.com challenge. Which hopefully will get me back on track for finishing nano by the time we leave for vacation in N. Carolina on the 19th of November.
So if anyone wants to join me in my 5k today challenge you are most welcome!
Everyone is doing a great job of getting those words written! Sprint!
I have a lot of catching up to do today to hit my personal goals, but I made myself a character, finally got WoW all fixed up to run last night, and will be showing up to bother you guys soon!
Thanks! Now if only I could end up online at the same time as any guild members. My character is Ninaleandra, level 8 human priest, and...she's currently stuck in a portion of Stormwind that makes my laptop crash upon logging on?
I haven't written a word today. Partly it is because my life is hectic (oh, hey! we are moving out of the city AND our bathroom is being renovated AND our car got side-swiped this weekend AND I'm sick with my 2nd cold in 2 weeks!). But partly because I am stuck on a pretty major plot point.
So, my fellow guildies, please help me out: which one gets murdered, her husband or her lover?
hmm... perhaps the lover, but by whom? Then the husband can comfort his wife and show her what a wonderful man she almost threw away. Did he know about the lover? Flip a coin? Write it both ways and after nano cut the other to a separate file. :`D
I didn't make my 5k quota yesterday and I'm having trouble getting started today again. Throws tantrum::Waaagh! Idowannadoitanymore!!! waaaagh!:: Ah, that feels better! And so back to work. If I don't write 5k today you won't see me online tonight. I hate not making my promises. Wish me luck. (and you're welcome to join me)
I finally combined the parts of my NaNo that I've been working on at work with the stuff I've got at home - and I was not expecting that large a wordcount jump! But then again, I have been working on it a little bit every day…
So to celebrate, I'm taking the day off to work on other things! Yay! Just don't let me derp into forgetting to start again…
Aww... I regret that you're having trouble finding us. :`(
It's the Nanowrimo Procrastinator guild on Misha Server, Alliance side. or type /join nanowrimothe chat channel and say hello a few dozen times. :`D
There are rarely more than two people on line at a time, as we come from diverse time zones and we are a very very small guild. Sometimes there is no one online, I'm usually on after I've done my writing/artwork for the day after 11pm Eastern time. But sometime by then I'm just too exhausted to go on and just go to bed.
Persistence can pay off, so I hope you can get in to the guild ok. I will be travelling this weekend and may not be able to get on at all for awhile.

Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Ooh nice! Ive been missing those!
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
I DO ACCEPT! YAY! I made it!
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Congrats!
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
AND SUCCESS. \(^.^)/
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Yay! Congrats! :`D
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
I have written 5k in a day exactly twice. Both were on a weekend. One of those was the Sunday after Wrath came out and I realized I'd gone three days without writing a thing and if I didn't get my butt in gear, my writing group would forever mock me for not winning because of a video game. I have a feeling I couldn't do a 5k day on a Wednesday when I don't get home from work until after 7. Good luck to you though. :)
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Thank you! Your good wishes paid off. I made my 5K goal and some. And now I have to get on with my 30 Characters sketch. :`D
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
I laughed at the 5k response to Wrath because I totally understand that. I was at 40k, including doing the night-of-release GameStop wait with a laptop, when I brought home my copy of Wrath. On the 28th I thought "Well crap, I have one max level character and another on the way, but no 50k" and just couldn't have that. I banged on the keyboard all day on the 30th to cross that 50k line. It wasn't my highest word count day ever, but it was close!
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Since I'm just getting started now (8:30pm), I doubt I will hit 5000k today. :-) Would be nice to do 2000+ and get caught up a little, so I'll see if I can buckle down.
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
I'm rootin' for ya! Good luck!
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
So, I made a gnome... hehe, her name is Tortugarae and she's on Misha to join the guild.
What's the actual guild name/tag so I can check to see when any of you are on while I am and get an invite?
Thanks
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Also you can go into the nanowrimo chat channel to see if anyone is online.
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
I'm feeling a little daunted by the challenges I set myself today. 5k for nano and three character pieces for the 30characters.com challenge. Which hopefully will get me back on track for finishing nano by the time we leave for vacation in N. Carolina on the 19th of November.
So if anyone wants to join me in my 5k today challenge you are most welcome!
Everyone is doing a great job of getting those words written! Sprint!
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
I have a lot of catching up to do today to hit my personal goals, but I made myself a character, finally got WoW all fixed up to run last night, and will be showing up to bother you guys soon!
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Welcome to the procrastinators! Hope you find someone online when you check. Congrats on the wonderful word count!
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Congrats to Dani! you made it over the 50K mark! Our first winner!
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Thanks! Now if only I could end up online at the same time as any guild members. My character is Ninaleandra, level 8 human priest, and...she's currently stuck in a portion of Stormwind that makes my laptop crash upon logging on?
I'll be ticketing that now.
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
I haven't written a word today. Partly it is because my life is hectic (oh, hey! we are moving out of the city AND our bathroom is being renovated AND our car got side-swiped this weekend AND I'm sick with my 2nd cold in 2 weeks!). But partly because I am stuck on a pretty major plot point.
So, my fellow guildies, please help me out: which one gets murdered, her husband or her lover?
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
hmm... perhaps the lover, but by whom? Then the husband can comfort his wife and show her what a wonderful man she almost threw away. Did he know about the lover?
Flip a coin? Write it both ways and after nano cut the other to a separate file. :`D
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Husband! >.> Much drama there.
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
I didn't make my 5k quota yesterday and I'm having trouble getting started today again. Throws tantrum::Waaagh! Idowannadoitanymore!!! waaaagh!:: Ah, that feels better! And so back to work. If I don't write 5k today you won't see me online tonight. I hate not making my promises. Wish me luck. (and you're welcome to join me)
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
I finally combined the parts of my NaNo that I've been working on at work with the stuff I've got at home - and I was not expecting that large a wordcount jump! But then again, I have been working on it a little bit every day…
So to celebrate, I'm taking the day off to work on other things! Yay! Just don't let me derp into forgetting to start again…
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Just remember what happened to the hare in the race with the tortoise... s'all'm sayin' >.>
But I'll poke ya tomorrow. <:`D
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
I wrote all day and as you can see I made my 5K goal and then just kept on writing. I was on a roll!
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
Okay - I must be on the wrong server - because I cannot find any guild with nanowrimo in its name!!!
I'm sad
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
altho i should be nanoing instead of looking for a guild
Re: World of Warcraft Nanowrimo Procrastinator Guild on Misha (Alliance)
