I'd just like to point out that I'd like to shove my raid leader in front of an oncoming train. But that's more or less irrelevant. I've been a long time player of WoW. I've got a ridiculous amount of characters more or less at max level. I raid at ridiculous Australian hours despite being an American and I've met several of my best friends through the game. With all of that said, this game has eaten my soul and I am constantly in a love/hate battle with it. Good thing souls are overrated, yes?

Moon Guard, represent. I haven't played a lot lately, but I've been thinking about dusting off the ol' Shadow Priest when Nano is over, just to scratch the itch. I've done everything from RP guilds to Casual Raiding to Hardcore Raiding, but as much as I like killing baddies for awesome loot, I don't think I could raid like that again. Just don't have time for it. I love raiding to pieces, though. Best times.

I stopped playing WoW for a year... year and a half because I only had a 40 Gig hard drive. Now I have a 1 terrabyte external hard drive. Unfortunately, I can't afford getting the Payable account... so I'm doing the Freebie stuff. I love the Paladin Tauren... is Fun

Cinari of Cenarion Circle here! All hail Union, the greatest guild (in my honest opinion) ever! I've been playing World of Warcraft for about three years, on and off. I've had many characters during my time (*cough*altaholic*cough), but I think I've finally made a decision and my wonderful 85 Disc/Holy Priest has become my main character. I am an ex-roleplayer who has decided to take up the mantle of a casual raider. Don't know how that's going to work with work, college, and Nano, but we'll play it by ear. I just healed my first Z-heroic (ZA) last night and, after wiping seven times on a single boss that wasn't the last boss of the dungeon, I've realized I'm in major need of some UI overhauls. Better to learn it in a troll dungeon than Firelands, right? At any rate... if you're looking for an escape, stop on by and send me a /wave. I'll be bashing my head against bosses over and over until they finally drop me some loots.

Feathermoon here, been playing since a month or so after launch. I need a break from WoW though, and I think November is a good chance to take a longish one. Unless the new 5 mans are fun to tank, and then I'll get my death knight and go do that after I make my word count.

Ex wow player from Tarren Mill and Argent Dawn. Had some of the best times of my eary 20s on that game. (I'm 25 now) played for around four years and my boyfriend for around seven. And, lovely story, we met on wow not long after I started playing on Tarren Mill and are still very much together. :) TBC was a wonderful expansion and my favourite! Illidan is so much love and such a brilliant character too. I'd love to write something about the wow universe because I completely adore the lore.

Currently on Grizzly Hills US (have some on Kori and any other user that is on Kori we know pain all too well yes?), have one maxed character that took about 3 months to do. Really should delete that shortcut from my desktop, but I need to get more raids and such done. Right now my current focus is Loremaster cause I have nothing better to do with a mostly dead guild T_T.

Very casual player on Wyrmrest Accord... meandering my way to 85 on a nelf hunter. Have a bunch of alts around. I'd be curious to know what that NaNo guild is too. Sounds like a fun way to procrastinate or egg each other on. :) Write a 5 minute word war for every dungeon wipe or something. Haha.

Lots of WrA people here! I have a few toons alliance-side over there... but they're mostly neglected for my BElf shadow priest on Farstriders. I'm a mostly-casual raider and my guild is chipping away at heroic Firelands. I'm hoping that 4.3 doesn't come out until December, because I might have some serious conflicts with raiding Deathwing vs. finishing NaNo.

I'd been spending a lot of time the last few weeks getting through the last few levels so I don't feel like a dweeb walking into Blizzcon with no 85s in my pocket. At least I can hold my head up and say "Been there, done that." Obviously I'll be taking a bigger break from the game in November, but I have a feeling that I'll need to log on in on a PvP and just wail on someone when I get too stressed out from my novel. It could happen.

I play on Wyrmrest Accord! And have been playing since about December; I only just got started with Cataclysm's release. I play a girl worgen druid, a girl worgen hunter, a girl worgen death knight…And a token blood elf hunter, so I can try things out horde side. Worgen will always be my first race of choice, seeing as they and a bunch of prodding friends were what got me into the game. I managed to soldier through Script Frenzy (…while writing a worgen based comic script. Not obsessed, really.) by forming a deal with myself. I was only allowed to play WoW AFTER writing my pages/words for the day, and my guildies were encouraged to heckle me if I hadn't, especially seeing how much I bragged to them about my project. I think that might work really well for NaNo, too; I'm certainly ready to give it a try!

Horde on Quel'dorei here. Tauren enhancement Shaman for the win! Part of a guild, mostly of IRL friends, who do 10-man raids, dungeons and world stuff without being overly hardcore. That said, we're four bosses in to Firelands, so we must be doing it sort of right, right?

Wyrmrest, mostly Allliance toons. I loved the RP style so much, that when our old PvE type guild went dormant, I talked some of my family/real life friends into switching over & starting a new little guild. Have two 70s toons, one 81 pallie, but my current 'Main' is a lowbie frost mage that is very different from my usual hunter/pallie type creations. "Hreinaa" on Wyrmie; send me an in-game tell if you are on. :-)

Since life has made it difficult for me to play (*sob*), I don't know if there have been any changes to the guild or not, or even what our membership looks like right now. But they are a great crowd. Fail holy priest, Nagrand Horde! I've been playing since 2007 and Nano'ing since 2004 so I'm pretty used to my social life being completely neglected for a month. As a side note - I'm actually looking for a guild. 5/7, not a total bad. Armory Cora on Nagrand if you're short a holy priest and shoot me a nanomail. Happy to transfer for a friendly group who are more family than just raiding collective - but still get their share of stuff killed too.

I've been in and out of WoW since the beta. Mostly absent during Wrath as it was plain awful. Lately am back in, enjoying the Hallow's quests. Sept-Oct is a good month for WoW for me. Yar! On ShC I've a Holy Pally (H), Combat Rogue (H), and another Combat Rogue (Ally) at end game for dailies, heroics and other shenanigans.^^

I'm GM of a 25-man raiding guild on The Venture Co (EU), just started work on Ragnaros hc, playing a lock Horde-side. I currently use my writing skills on our website news posts! (www.orc-of-the-covenent.com) I'm busy arranging folks to pick up some of my GM duties for November, as they take pretty much all my free time. I did finish NaNo a few years ago, but i've failed for the last few. It's going to be a challenge getting it done while still keeping up four nights' raiding a week... but I'm pretty determined. I'll be telling my guildies what I'm doing, so hopefully they'll be supportive and maybe will nag me to keep going.

I've played since spring 2005 (can't remember exact date but a couple of months after European launch). Started out on Earthen Ring, as an innocent little roleplayer, until raiding came along and swept me away. Since then I've been to the deepest end of hardcore (three world firsts during the first week of Ulduar, with Inner Sanctum on Silvermoon; I used to be a holy paladin called Ilenora) but now I'm playing in a semi-casual guild on Doomhammer - downed heroic Baleroc on Monday and got Bethi-whatever that spider's name is left to go before Raggy. Don't think any of my in-game buddies or guildmates know wtf NaNo is, none of them write anything as far as I know. Luckily our melee team is strong enough currently that they'll probably be fine without one fury warrior for November...

Zugzug! I'm a Horde player (Lok'tar Ogar!) on Llane, I have 4 85s (priest, paladin, shaman and mage) and a few getting close. I play with my significant other and used to raid. FOR THE HORDE! Hi all. :) I play on Garona (I know we suck, we're well aware). I've got: Level 85 Warlock, Shaman, Pally, and DK, and an 80 Priest. I have an intense hatred of playing non-caster DPS toons. (Hunters don't count.) I played WoW for a year and a half and had to quit shortly after Cata came out. (I'm a Wrath baby, though most people don't believe me.) I haven't played in several months due to having no money, but I'm still very much a Horde player on the inside. Blood Elf Warlocks for the win...! I'd love to go back some day, but I have no clue when that would be. Still need that damn Professor title...

Hey all. I have one character, war tank (Undad, lvl 80, Maelstrorm) Can you guess the race/faction? He's also all purpled out and I can't bring myself to putting him in 10x better green gear! I quit playing in the middle of ICC raids when I went to do other things. I came back and started four new characters and kind of forgot about Undad, and ended up taking all four to 85 before deleting them and "quitting" again. Now I just have two lvl 40's besides Undad, (who oddly enough, is my main again, I guess.) Ah, I guess I might play again after Nano. Not sure, though. Depends on how the writing goes. :)

Hello~ I've been playing World of Warcraft for the better side of two or three years now. I'm for the Alliance (I could never play Horde, I've tried multiple times before.) My main character is on Perenolde, a level 85 warlock. I've also got a 70 Worgen Druid on the same server. I've also created a Worgen Warrior on Wyrmrest Accord (yes it's a roleplaying server, sue me.) I've got a few characters on other servers, but I don't work on them as much as those three. One of the things I'm proud to claim is that on my Warlock I managed to snag 100 mounts before Cataclysm came out. With NaNo coming up, I'm probably not going to have much success on working on my Warlock's gear and leveling my Worgen at the same time, so I'm adjusting accordingly.

I played a lot this summer on Blackrock, after my friend got me into it. I got my belf hunter up to 64, but once I got to Outland I just had no motivation to keep playing. I haaaated Outland. Then I got a forsaken hunter to 35, but got bored... I had nobody to play with at that point; my friends had gone back to school :C So yeah, account currently run out, not sure when or if I'll go back. I had fun for a while, though! HORDE FO LYF!

From Hordeside on Sha'tar RP (EU only) here. Have each of a level 85, l84, l65, l25, l15, l13 and a l7. Keep making characters and convincing myself they'll each work out better than the last doomed alt. Truth is I'm just too attached to my main. Been playing for 5 years now, still a roleplayer through and through despite the fact WoW lore isn't... brilliant... storytelling. xD

Extremely casual player. Got multiple characters on both sides. I play to kill time with a friend who lives across the country. I'm mostly in it to explore the world, PvE, really light RP if approached first (since I'm on an RP server), that kind of thing. I couldn't care less about raids and guilds and whatever. I just want to enjoy myself. I've played with people who are really into it and they ruin the entire experience for me. So yeah.

I primarily play a resto night elf durid Alliance-side on Silvermoon, but I have lots of alts. With my guild, I am working on 10-man Firelands as part of a small raiding co-op. I have already given notice that I won't be available next month, and I'll probably let my subscription expire when it is set to in early Nov., that is probably the best way to keep me focused on winning Nano this year. My favorite part of the game is the exploration and questing.

Hey all! I used to play Horde, but Sylvanas (wicked as she is) just started to piss me off way too much. I'm for the Alliance! My main is a Discipline Priest (somehow I fell in love with dungeon healing), but I also love playing rogues, and I am trying out druid for the first time. Anyone else see the news on Mists of Pandaria? I think it's really, really cool to finally have a race that plays for both factions.

I started playing about four months after release, but have taken quite a few breaks lately, my current break the longest at 7 months, since we've been doing some house renovations and that + carpal tunnel = bad for computer time. (That and we got some new guildies who need finger gags to shut them up in chat.) Voice recognition saved my Nano last year so I'm running it again this year. I plan to make WoW reactivation my post-Nano treat. When I'm there I'm on Skywall with a resto shaman, frost mage, or various less-than-85 toons horde side, or trying to hit 85 with my dwarf priest on Silverhand so I can see alliance side quests before I turn her horde. I played alliance my first year until some guild mates wanted to test out horde on a new server (Maelstrom) and picked shaman since it was horde only at the time. Horde stuck for us and we did a few server bounces before landing on Skywall.

I left behind two 85s there, but it was worth the move and someday I'll transfer them, I'm sure. In any case, I'm very happy to see such a nice representation of players here. WoW players are, on the whole, the best lot of people. :-) Anyone else writing a WoW-related story? My first time out at NaNoWriMo and that's where I'm going. Write what you know. MWAHAHA, I have obtained a computer that can support WoW again, and I decided to go for the annual commitment, so YAY! Back to Misha for me! I've got half a dozen Alliance-side toons on there, and the Alliance NaNo Guild NaNoWrimo Procrastinator - it looks like our GL is still active, so if you do a search for us (or just search NaNoWrimo), I'm pretty sure any of our guildies who are online can invite. I've been our for a while, but they're a great crew and I love them all dearly. That pretty, pretty mount and the fact I’d get Diablo 3 for free is just icing on the awesomeness cake.

For the Horde! I'm a casual player on Antonidas, and wondering whether I'll have to give up gaming for a month to get the novel done. Maybe a rule of "no games until the day's writing is done" will help me get the NaNo novel done. I went to Blizzcon and enjoyed it immensely. Hearing the artists and writers speak reminded me that for them it is a creative work, even though for me it gets in the way of creative work sometimes. Pandas and Pokemons, though, jeez... seems like the game is taking a strange left turn here.

Greetings, I was a hardcore vanilla player, made it up to Naxx 40 with my Gnome Warlock. When BC came out, my friends and I all re-rolled to play Horde. I played a Paladin and hated every minute of it until I hit level 50. That's when the magic started for me. I tanked for a little bit in BC but stopped with T6 raiding. My schedule wouldn't allow for it and I was getting tired of all of the lag people were getting in Serpentshrine Caverns. I started playing WoW again in Lich King but couldn't get into the groove of things. Played Cataclysm but stopped in January because I realized that none of my friends were on my server anymore and that I was tired of playing by myself in an MMO. I also wasn't a fan of how the dungeons runs were going. I recently started playing it again but can't stay very focused. I'm currently Horde on Nordrassil (PVE; Pacific Time). I have a L85 Priest but working on my Death Knight and Paladin now. I have mixed feelings about the Panderan and the Monk class. And I have some reservations about the up-coming revisions to the talent system that will be introduced with Mists of Pandaria. I think they may have oversimplified it after taking some inspiration from how the talents will work in Diablo III.

Bal'a dash, malanore, fellow Azerothians. I got sucked in just before Wrath launched, and have been playing almost non-stop since. I have a nearly full roster of Hordies on Bael'gun - including three 85s - with a few dusty alts on other servers. I'm mostly a solo/casual player who enjoys leveling and exploring more than dungeons. My mains (a Belf Hunter and a Tauren Druid) have seen the inside of a few raids, but nothing on a regular basis. I'm currently leveling a Belf Warrior to help my guild with the Classy achievement and enjoying being the toughest thing in plate. Rawr. This is my first NaNoWriMo, and this has me more nervous than tanking my first dungeon. O_O

Doesn't look like there's anyone from my realms here. Blades Edge EU is where most of my 85s are. Warlock, Disc/Shadow Priest, Holy/Prot Paladin (although I don't inflict my tanking on anyone!) and my main, a Resto/Enhance Shammy. I also have an 85 DK on Doomhammer and a level 80 Disc Priest on Defias Brotherhood. Recently started a warlock on Draenor. I've hit the character limit several times and have to keep deleting low level alts to make room for more.

I used to be a hardcore player, playing any chance I got, but nowadays I'm just very happy being causal. I like leveling, doing dailies and collecting pets and mounts. I like instances, but I don't do a lot of them because of the randomness you get with the people who join. You can get some great people who are nice and cool and then suddenly when you feel that nothing can go wrong you get a jack@$$ who ruins it for you. Like players who come in and decide they need to police gear/dps/skill when no one has died, the boss was cleared properly and the group is moving smoothly. If nothing bad happened, don't complain. I think the most funniest thing that happened recently was someone who told my fiance, who was in greens and blues at the time, that, "Your gear sucks, why are you doing so much dps?" His answer, "I know how to play my class." :D

US - Azuremyst- Alliance Side. I'm Asherrylie (Everywhere, On Twitter, in game, and here too) I raid with a pretty new guild who likes to get bosses killed, and have fun doing it. I just came from a guild with a bunch of bloggers, which was TONS of fun! Everyone was always writing over there :) I'm interested to see how I will be able to raid 2-3 nights a week, and write novel. We'll see how this goes. I'll probably be doing a lot of my writing during the day... and possibly get some inspiration from my guildies (Somehow I made it into a guild where I'm the *only* female. I’ve been playing World of Warcraft since a few weeks before Burning Crusade came out. The characters I spend the most time with are on Feathermoon-Alliance, but I’ve got a couple in the NaNo Procrastinator guild on Misha, some on Kirin Tor and then others in a lot of places. Mainly Alliance, with a smattering of Horde. I wouldn’t normally call myself a casual, but since I’m not raiding anymore, I guess it’s the closest. The Feathermoon toons contain my 85s and the characters I’ve devoted the most play time to. My guild is pretty dead. There are 3 of us who still log in, but we do nothing as a group, and while I have friends elsewhere on the server, most of them are doing guild only things, and I’m not yet in a place where I’d leave my guild. I used to have a raid group, but half that raid group stopped playing with Cata, or play only sporadically. Those are left are in a guild only raid, for a guild I'm obviously not in. My WoW time is largely silent these days, which has led to a lot of alts on different servers. If I’m spending all day not talking to anyone, let’s at least have the excuse that I don’t know anyone to talk to, right? I have a belf DK on Garona, as a way to see the Horde side of a few specific events - Children’s Week, Nagrand, and Wrathgate. Still working on that last one, but definitely loved the Greatmother quest chain, and Salandria was everything I had hoped. I don’t know anyone on Garona, so if any of you are over there and could recommend a guild good for alts, I’d appreciate it. (All that silence grates after a while.) I’ve managed to win NaNo while still playing WoW for a number of years now. Each year brings its own challenges, like the Wrath release in 08 and the pre-Cata patch last year. Not sure what this year will bring, but here’s hoping my WoW playing will get along with the novel writing.

My main is a troll hunter on US Ravencrest. And I have four other 85s on that server. I also have toons on Skywall, Wyrmrest Accord, Firetree, and Greymane. All a mix of Horde and Alliance toons. I'm very much "For the Horde!" however. I'm a pretty huge altaholic. Been playing since six months before the end of Lich King (give or take). A friend of mine introduced me to the game and I've been hooked ever since. I have a feeling WoW is going to be a huge distraction. I was even thinking of wiriting about one of my toons and use playing as an excuse for "research".

Sen'jin Alliance checking in. I play an 85 Resto Druid, we are 7/7 Firelands. Finally got our first but messy Rag kill about a week ago. Also have an 85 BM Hunter, 85 Shadow/Holy Priest, 85 Elemental Shaman, 85 Frost Mage, 85 Unholy DK... Working on my 82 Ret Pally and waiting for Mists of Panderia so I can roll my Monk, healer of course. Also have a bunch of alts on my original home server of Drenden mostly Alliance but also have an 80 shaman there.

Been playing WOW off and on (more on than off) since vanilla open beta (yes, that is a long time). Horde all the way. Main is a feral tauren druid with ridiculous numbers of mounts (113), minipets (141), tabards and a whole pile of achievement points. Favourite race is trolls by a long way - only reason I haven't race changed the main is because I am too cheap. But I am so having a troll monk when they come out.

Well, logged on for my last hour before NaNo last night, and had a guildy try to lure me back into the game for the month with shiny raids and guild achievement runs. >.< Gonna be tricky, especially since I caved in and got the yearly membership thingy, so my time will be active for the whole month again. *sighs* At least my RP characters are safely in a part of their storyline where it makes sense for them to be "away". (One is out training to become stronger, the other is depressed and avoiding everyone)

FOR THE HORDE!!! Seriously, I'm Horde to the core. I'm mainly on Shadow Council (crappy server if you want to get into raiding when you've gotten by without doing it), but I've got some Hordelings over on Nordrassil, too. I play Alliance every now and then (I do like the Worgen) and play that faction on Garona and Icecrown only when I've gotten some things accomplished on my Horde toons. If anyone's ever on Shadow Council (Horde, of course) and looking for a small, friendly, laid-back guild, do a /who search for the guild called Wild Geese (anime reference there). If Václav (my toon/guild recruitment officer) isn't on, message whatever guild member is on and we'll get ya hooked up.

I'm currently a BE priest on Zul'jin (Ellyndia), though my first server was Shadow Council. I miss RP servers - Zul'jin is a regular server, and while progressed, it's sorta bland. I miss random interactions. I am happy about the nerfs in Firelands - because even though my guild is 4/7 heroic, we raid about 6 hours over two days - giving me plenty of time for NaNoWriMo!

I've been playing for a few years of and on. Wanted to play over the summer, but ended up in the middle of no where for work with no internet. Anyways... Horde on Malorne. Seems no one else plays there. My main is a 85 hunter (no one likes hunters for some reason) named Redsolaris. Got a bunch of alts on there, only one lvl 85, the rest all over the place. Alliance on Kel'Thuzad. Main there is switching between a rogue and worgen druid there. Haven't played there in a while so I don't remember what level any of them are besides the pitiful little dwarf who I probably will never play again and is going to stay at level 7. Horde/Alliance on Moon Guard, though I haven't played there in a long time.

I play Alliance on Proudmoore. Playing a lowbie hunter right now, but I've been playing off and on for the last 6 (yeesh!) years. I have two 85s (shaman/hunter) and pretty much just continuously level the same three classes over and over again (priest/shaman/hunter). I do branch out occasionally, I've been working on a mage that's trapped in the 70s and a warrior that's trapped in the 60s. Someday they'll get to the 80s, someday.

I'm mostly A-side on Wyrmrest Accord... got a rogue, paladin, and priest at 85, and then about six or seven other alts on WrA that I'm leveling slowly but surely. And WrA ends up being my greatest distraction when it comes to Nano, since I keep pausing in whatever I'm writing to update a WrA-related blog or forum post. Le sigh. I've been playing for almost six years now, though, and having realized that in this moment makes me feel old.

Been playing since Early BC, Started on Kirin Tor, moved to Moonguard. Though I have been looking for a place for when I need a break from both my RP friends, and NaNo. Mainly a place where I can just not *write* and vegitate my brain after a four hour session of writing non stop. Don't PVP, really, but I like going to the dungeons. So any NaNo procrastination guilds I can hide in? xD I play on US obviously, and I'll play either Horde or Alliance.

I play alliance on Ysera (US). I've been playing for a little over 6 years now. My main is Kathinja, a SV hunter. I also have Evara, a holy pally; Rya, an arcane mage; and Cyranel, a fury warrior at 85. I'm currently in a 25man guild that is 5/7 heroic Firelands, though our guild leaders *both of whom were our tanks* recently quit the game, so we've dropped back down to regs for the time being. I didn't raid any during vanilla and was in the worst raiding guild in existence during BC, so I really only got to do Kara. I did get pulled into Gruul's and Mag's by a friend's guild, and once I changed guilds late in BC I did ZA once or twice. Raided all reg content during LK, although I never did see Yogg die, and we didn't get LK down until after all of the nerfs and the 30% buff. If you ever find yourself on my server, feel free to look me up. I'm always up for chatting with other writers.

Msjedimaster: you are so wrong about Death Knights. new players cannot play them until they have hit at least Level 55 on another class. (why does everyone forget that fact :s) I began playing in 2005 and my first character was NOT a Hunter. I first played a Mage and when I returned to Warcraft in 2008 (right at the end of BC) my original character then was also a Mage. My main character is a Death Knight which is why I am so keen to defend them. Every Class has its difficult players but that is because Warcraft is such a multi dimensional game it can take years of practise before you can become good at it. most obvious finger pointing to Warcraft: my name is Kalrhadia Menethil. Im an Arthas fangirl. Since Warcraft 3. deal with it :D

is there anyone out there who hates Cataclysm as much as I do? in a short explanation I have been playing less and less frequently (NaNo is not responsible in the slightest!) as I have found the storylines become more and more absurd, RP'ers like myself being pretty much forgotten and casual part timers (also me here xD) being pushed aside in favour of the elite full timers. Even though 4.3 seems to have a glimmer of hope of redeeming Cata somewhat with some Lore that might possibly make sense; it is being overshadowed by the upcoming expansion of Pokemon Panda - Land (oops, I mean Mists of Pandaria :D) In losing Arthas Warcraft seems to have well and truly lost the plot. such a shame :( Kally x

I play on Mok'Nathal and Steamwheedle Cartel most of the time, and a lot on the PTR, mostly Alliance, and managed to get one of my friends into the game, albeit on his mother's account. Now I just have to manage writing and getting to level 56 before he makes a death knight. Yay for competitiveness!

My alliance server is Terenas and Horde server is Farstriders. I've been playing since March of 2005 and my main is Honesta, 85 human rogue. :3 Right now I'm on break, but I will probably be playing again after NaNo is over. I'm pretty sure I'll slow down when I have to edit.

I'm going to secretly blame the lot of you if I don't get my last 18k in the next 6 days. :) (Though really it's all my fault for reading this thread in the first place and being inspired to renew my subscription.) I rolled a blood elf mage (don't hate me because I wanted the enchanting buff!) on Moon Guard and am loving the flavor of the server. I haven't jumped head first into the RP, but I usually like watching other people RP (walking toons make me giggle) and so far I've found trade/general chat less annoying than most of my other servers. I'm still floating guildless because, frankly, a couple people managed to ruin my last guild on Skywall, which was why I stopped playing in the first place. I'm the kind of player that never had a strong interest in progression and just wanted to dink around with characters for the heck of it, but people didn't complain about me when they took me raiding (mostly healing on my shaman). Farming and dailies don't annoy me as easily as they seem to annoy most people. I prefer playing solo over running as a group and have only used the dungeon finder when pushed into it by guild mates on my other server. I find it amusing to think back over how much WoW has changed. I played a druid when feral was gimpy (leveled resto mostly solo), wsg on a shadow priest when it was brand new and the only bg (stood around a lot in ashenvale!), av on a resto shaman long after hitting exalted (still have a severed night elf head), arenas on the same shaman when they were new, ot for kara on a warrior, blasted the heck out of casual content in Wrath as a frost mage, and have played every class but pally to level 30 or higher. Starting at level 1 on a new server with no cash/bags/guild has been a lot of fun, especially seeing how they've changed the way leveling works. (No int buff until level 58? What??) New content in the starting zones post-Cata is interesting too and I'm not even minding a repeat of Outlands thus far. Luckily I'm away from my WoW-capable computer until Monday, so I'll get to see about that 18k I still need instead of trying to hit Wrath content. ;)

From the little bit of time I was able to play yesterday, 4.3 seems good. I'm not 100 percent on the changes to holy radiance for hpallies, but the new dungeons are fun. They are pretty easy, which is slightly disappointing but I understand blizzard tunes the content to casual players. The new looking for raid system is well done, but I'd suggest queuing for the 25man version and not the 10man because it really feels like doing a 10man raid with 25 people (very simple). Makes a quick way to gear alts and gives you something to do if your guild isn't raiding on a night you want to. The loot system is that you only get one chance at loot per boss per week (you can repeatedly run the raids if you want to), so it's like being locked out without actually being locked out. And the loot is all 384 ilvl, but you will still benefit from tier set bonuses if you win the tokens. The new dungeons, even though they are fairly easy, are a lot of fun. It's so nice to finally have something to run besides za/zg. And they gave us all off-set pieces to buy with valor since all tokens now are raid drops. It'll be nice to be able to get 397 gear in lieu of token pieces so there's not that frustration from needing that last token and having it never drop.

And take away their mouse. :| Or, barring that, find a song they hate and play it constantly in vent. I have eleven 85s (eek), and it was getting to the point where I wasn't getting anything done other than playing WoW... so I had to take another break. :

Hi Cinari! I've never leveled a priest but I do a lot of resto heals in the ZG/ZAs. I can recommend Healium if you want a UI healy add-on--it lines up all your heals next to healthbars and then you just point and click with the mouse. Makes it pretty idiot-proof (which is why I use it!). I know a lot of people love Healbot too. Feel free to look me up on Cenarion Circle sometime!

Videos of raid boss fights scare me... not only because the fights look so hard, but because the person taking the video makes it look so easy. They don't yell and scream at the monitor when the RNG decides that things go very badly at the very worst moment.

Yeeshy, yeah. My guild is doing Firelands, and... yeah. We've got the Shannox fight down pat, we're pretty practiced on Bael'roc and Beth'telic, and if you read the fight first the Rhylioth fight is doable first try... and we're wiping, wiping, wiping on Alysrazor. Repeatedly. It's brutal. But honestly, it's the most fun I've had in a raid in a long time; much more than ICC was.

Druid or Shaman? I actually just got rid of Healium! I've been using it for about a year and a half now, but since I was going to jump into raiding I thought I'd use something that incorporated raid frames easier. I had a bunch of mouseover macros set that I used in conjunction with Healium. I switched to Healbot last week and couldn't stop trying to use my mouseover macros that don't exist anymore. I put Healbot in a really awkward place, however - hence all the terrible wipes. I've relocated it (with some other pretty UI clean ups) and I feel much more confident. I've even (gasp) gone back to using cooldowns like Desperate Prayer!

*counter-stalks* I'm sorry Healium didn't suit--I've only dabbled in raid healing, got a FL win on my alt (not my main yet which is frustrating!). I didn't mind Healium for raiding but I agree that the raid frames just don't work with it. I haven't tried Healbot yet but I know most people swear by it... And sure I'd love a beta reader or anything, I was sad at how few people seemed interested in Final Fantasy in general in the Fanfiction thread over in the Other Genres forum! I guess it's on the way out, more's the pity :(

Hi Maggs/Rilke! Thanks for the suggestion! I was kind of disappointed in Grid... because you need to have Clique also. I am running WoW on a three year old laptop, so too many addons makes me a sad panda. I finally settled with Healbot... I don't like it as much as I liked my old mouseover macro set up (and I keep trying to use my mouseover macros when the buttons are set to things that aren't heals...) but it's still pretty nice. The buffs on the healing bars gets pretty annoying... but I haven't quite decided if I want to turn it off completely yet. I'm also not 100% thrilled with the bars turning colors when someone has a dispel-able debuff; it makes tracking HP a little difficult. I think I just need to play around with the options more though.

Nice to see some one from Drenden here. I used to play Alliance, transferred to another server. My 80 shaman is in Requium. Faction changed so I could play with the hubby on Horde sometimes. We have an Alliance guild on Sen'jin. 7/7 Firelands, working on a cleaner Rag kill and HM Shannox. Just wanted to say "HI!" :D

My main issue with Healium is that it broke about a month ago; it stopped telling me about dispel-able items. I wasn't about to get Decursive and run two addons when one should do it. I used mouseover macros anyway (with my Razer Naga - Yum!) so I could easily switch to the Blizzard raid frames when I got into a raid group. Healbot is working pretty good though. I was able to adjust my frames so they are under my character's feet, and now my tunnel vision works in my favor since I can watch for bad stuff AND heal. GTFO helps for when I get really tired... but I've found that since I've switched to Healbot, I don't hear that obnoxious noise as much anymore.

I have... an 85 Resto Shaman, an 85 Holy Paladin, one 85 Holy Priest, two 85 Disc Priests, a 72 Resto Druid... and a level 20 of every other class because I hate DPSing and Tanking. >_> I think I have a problem. I've been thinking of taking up my Druid mantle again... it's just that Druid healing is so different from all other healing... and Cat really made that difference notable. I struggled to keep Lifebloom rolling and to use Swiftmend correctly... so I abandoned her to level my latest Priest. Now that Cinari is ready for raids though, I'm really thinking I might give it another shot.

Hey Beh: I recently (4ish months ago) did that with my latest priest... and it was glorious. I had no money, no BoA's, no friends on the server, joined a level 1 guild (so no guild xp bonuses), and just quested (no dungeon finder!) at my leisure. Now Cinari is 85, heroic geared, and ready for raids. The guild is still only level 10 (we're growing every week it seems now though) and we're plugging away at getting old raids done before we move on to Cat-level stuff. We just finished BC raider this weekend, and are setting our sights on LK raids in the next two weeks. I think I got lucky, however. I could have ended up in a bad guild, or had chosen a class I didn't like. I'm very pleased with how things turned out.

And I feel the worgen and goblins are getting jipped out of being monks. >:( Like, I can understand why, but they are the only two races that can't be monks. (And Worgen can't be shamans either so I feel they're double jipped.)

I have the same fears about the stupidity of making one race shared between two factions when they specifically said they wouldn't do something like that with the other races cuz when people pvp all they see is the outline. I'd loved to have a High Elf for Alliance, but apparently only pandas are good enough to go both way. ^^;; As for talents, I also believe they shouldn't be cutting them down. I love talent points - its one of those incentives that let you feel you are getting somewhere when you're leveling. Now all it feels like is that they're cutting them because they're too lazy to do more than 6 and refuse to put any effort to into developing more.

Oh! And - does anyone else keep their Real-ID text updated to your current word count? It helps me keep that whole guilt factor going while I'm on wow, so I log off when I need to get writing done instead of procrastinating and queuing for another random, lol. Some of my RID friends may or may not be interested but on occasion I get the 'What's NaNoWriMo?" question which leads to an interesting conversation.

A lot better than on Moon Guard, which granted, isn't saying much. But it's a lot easier to find people RPing who AREN'T just trying to get in your character's pants. Last time I tried RPing on Moon Guard, my druid got hit on by a drunk DK. Might I add that this druid is completely grossed out by undead things, and while she accepts DKs as allies, she's still very creeped out by them. And then the player kept trying to contact me throughout Brewfest while I was trying to get my Brewmaster title. -_-. Bastard.

I lead a 10man Firelands group every Tuesday (we clear it) and then I raid on my alt on Wednesday and Sunday (Sunday only if we don't clear Wednesday). I play Alliance. Holy Pally on Executus. My alts are on my other server (still alliance) Anetheron. The only alt I raid on is my resto druid, though I have every class (not all are 85 yet, still lacking four classes for that). What can I say? I like healing ;p

I LOVE HUNTERS! (My first character was a hunter :D) And trust me only idiots don't like hunters/dk's (OK I understand dk's a bit more, but I love mine so I can't trash that.)

I love my hunter. Especially after I got a spirit beast kitty. Not sure why people dislike them. I was in a heroic Cata dungeon and the rest of the group kept blaming me for failing.

Before wrath hunters where usually the class new players played (after wrath it was dk's :P) Since new players are still learning to control there class and play they usually errr are worse at stuff and lead to more wipes. But it sounds like you had a dip-wad in group that where looking for someone to blame and I will give you my terrible hint. When they do that next time pull the boss and leave. 30 minutes is worth it to teach jerks a lesson. I do this in cata way more then I care to admit. (Oh side note if you wanna play horde a little on moon guard we got a nanowrimo guild going on there.)

I'm almost scared to ask who you are, as I'm also A-side on WrA. Though it's not my main server, I'm usually seen there on Lissandre of Fading Darkness (we're tiny, just a little guild some of us from Feathermoon made to keep our A-side toons connected), but knowing there are other writers out there makes me happy.

I think scaly since you can skin them--you can't skin normal birds/owls/etc.

There are owls in Twilight Highlands you can skin. It's my favorite spot for gathering Savage Leather.

Actually this is no longer true. They removed the level 55 requirement shortly before Cataclysm came out. Now anyone can make a DK and start at 55 without working their butts off to reach that level first. Worst mistake they EVER made, since now those DKs think they're all that and a bag of chips without earning or learning anything at all. It used to be that DKs could be respected since you at least had to play to 55 on SOMETHING to earn a DK. Not anymore, sadly. Another original WC player! WOOT! Admittedly I've been drooling over Arthas since Frozen Throne came out years ago, so.. yeah. I also have to admit I've been drooling over Thrall just as long. I've always been on the Orcs' side.. from WCI. :D

Required Reading List For You: The Shattering (How Cataclysm came about, important information here will explain the other book a bit more) Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects (will tell you why the Wyrmrest Temple is important) I would also suggest you read all the other books out there (if you have the time) since many of them bounce information back and forth, like Lord of the Clans explains who Thrall is and his full history, and would be useful to have read before you read the one above.. and you probably have no idea who Krasus is, so reading Day of the Dragon, Night of the Dragon, and the entirety of the War of the Ancients trilogy would be very helpful. I don't remember if any other book focuses on the Wyrmrest Accord at all; for the rest of the lore, you would REALLY need to do all the quests in Dragonblight. Since you don't play, try looking up videos or quest texts/events on WoWwiki or Wowhead; they can at least give you general and cursory information.

Thanks. I've combed my local bookstore for anything out of lore, and came up with nothing. TT_TT I had to rely on WoWwiki for most of my information on lore, and it can be a little... vague at times. From what I gather, the Wyrmrest Temple sits atop the Chamber of the Aspects (though how that's there I really don't know, since Alexstrasza, Korialstrasz, and Krasus flew right into it during the War of the Ancients); and for some reason, Deathwing wants to take it down. Well, since I was picking a good place for a pitched battle, I guess I found it. :)

Yeah, totally agreed...the story is becoming more bull craped and not going anywhere. Despite if you hated how easy wrotlk was the story was EPIC. Everything from classic to BC built up to that expansion. I had hopes that they would build a new story in Cata to go off of but they haven't. :( In reality, wow the world will go on forever, there is always going to be more problems. But there comes a time where keeping the story going isn't a good idea...but until I find a game that has holidays as fun as wow, I am at least gonna play at the holidays.

Not I. I'm excited that they finally brought Brewmaster Chen's people into light, and I'm glad we can get back to the story of Orc vs Human from WC I and II. There are still many more storylines that have popped up through WCI-III that are still unexplored. They haven't lost the storyline much at all, and I think what they are doing with the Pandaria expansion will bring back a lot of the older players as well as bring in new blood. I'm a casual player, playing mostly for individual achievements. My raid runs 3 hours once a week, so we're not Elite Full-Timers, we're just now getting to Ragnaros, in fact. I'm also an RPer, which eats a lot of my /played. I'm perfectly happy with the game as it is - but then again, my guild is a very good guild, with a lot of fantastic people, some who are on practically 24/7, and some who log in once or twice a month, some who pay more attention to raids, some who pay more attention to RP. I think it depends on who you play with, and what YOU want to make of the game. If you're not having fun, stop for a while. If you don't like where it's going, or think it's the "Pokemon Kung-Fu Panda" expansion - go back and look at lore that happened in WCII and WCIII, read the books, look through lore discussions. Maybe then it will make more sense. "Casual" players have their place if they make one for themselves, but if you're going to make fun of the game for having a lack of lore or broken lore (which yes, some of it IS broken), at least know all the lore, the speculations, the common discussions, and know your history.

Krasus and Korialstrasz are the same guy actually :3 Korialstrasz is used as a dragon, Krasus is used as an elf form. You can probably order books online too and it would be quite a bit cheaper than in the store itself. And I wouldn't rely on used bookstores too much either. I've been through four or five of them with only 2 hits. Might want to find a list of the one's that are out there since they are all by different authors. Richard Knaak and Christie Golden seem to be the main two, but there's various others. Either way, scan through the titles. The one's that Kalla mentioned would definitely be good.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!! If your events don't happen BEFORE CATACLSYM, don't use Wrymrest temple; not long after the events of The Shattering (when the Cataclysm actually happened), Wrymrest temple gets trashed, and the Chambers get trashed, and a few dragons go berserk and more things get trashed (Events of Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects), and then more stuff happens and Northrend kinda gets trashed... Long story short, if your events happen after the Cataclysm, Wyrmrest Temple is kinda a big void/crater of nothing, and the dragons don't go there anymore.

No offence but you do realize 80% of wow player didn't play warcraft, and ah have no interest in it either. YOU also by the sound of it have a great guild with great players who know there classes and can raid well. Which really helps with raiding but some of us are just in guilds and can't really raid other then in pugs...which are almost always fail now in Cata. Blizzard is pulling this lore out when there is plenty of other lore to use, and they aren't building it at ALL for those of us who don't play Warcraft and won't ever...they need to seriously fix that. Because I want to understand but I'm not buying another game to play, spending hours reading online or paying for another of there poorly written novels. (Also Panda's don't bother me as much as making companions able to fight each other...I still want to find lore for that. Oh and getting rid of talent trees, pve as we know it and there isn't actually going to be a 'bad guy' to fight at the end) Yes, there is a place for causal players in Cata. Farming dallies and doing dungeons, RP...PVP used to be more for casuals but with rated bg's now it isn't either.. .this is all fun but we can't get a raid unless we have a good guild or close friend who we can go with. I think,(I can't speak for Kalrhadia Menethil) is we hold out, hoping it will get better because we have enjoyed it so much in the past, and we still love the old stuff and the holidays but are very disappointed with the new content, and a story that used to be so well built and is now a story hanging by thin threads. No offence to you Kalla, I am just pointing out how I feel about this.

I mean not long after Deathwing came out from under the surface and blew things up. I would put it to you in quest terms, but you don't play, so the quests wouldn't make sense... As of our current patch, the events trashing the Temple have already happened, since they happened when the new Aspect of the Blue Flight was appointed (since, well, back in Wrath we kinda killed the old one), and since he was appointed as of shortly after 4.2, the Temple technically is already trashed, and the Chambers of the Aspects are gone.

Okay, I have kicked Wyrmrest and the Dragonblight out of the plot (thankfully, I'm nowhere near there yet)... and that leaves me in search of another big battlefield. My NaNo is actually inspired by the Dragon Soul raid coming in patch 4.3, which I think is stupid (in my own undereducated opinion); on a side note, where does Deathwing usually hang out when he's not busy torching the face of Azeroth and giving people achievements?

That's a good question; we don't know yet, since the raid to thrash his flamey-butt hasn't been released. Before now, it was in Deepholm, and I might have guessed Grim Batol, but I don't think either is the case.

It's so awesome to hear someone else say they prefer to go solo. I get hounded by daughter, by my guild(s), by other friends, "when are you gonna dungeon?" "you're not playing it right". I like the solo game - it's fun and relaxing and still a challenge. the dungeons are not fun to me. thank you for posting. and you can make your 18k - now me....i have about 23k to do - and i'm having a wow craving so ......

Pretty sure it was 4.3, because I got my Tyrael's Charger, which was meant to come out with 4.3... Though, there was a prep patch I downloaded yesterday, and it made the patch for today download super fast.
