Oh that's right. It's the Lounge Minion's job to start the new thread. At least I get some of the leftover Ben and Jerry's from last year as a reward.

So singles of NaNo, come in, chill, and have a good old time. I have quite a recent story in attempted relationships that will be saved for a post outside the first one.

But don't touch the gold monkey. That one's all mine.

This was the second post I made after the site relaunched, the first being for the overachievers. :P Overachieving, singles, and everything else? Sounds about right.

Haha, yeah! It's pretty cool hovering around the site with so few threads in it. So awesome being on the first page of some thread institutions! XD I don't think I've ever done that before.

I think I posted in this lounge once or twice last year, but I can't quite remember. haha

I'm just going around the forums to see what's what & of interest to me. Being single, this one's of interest to me, of course. :D

All right, the tale. I've liked this guy for awhile. He happens to be a friend of mine, as well as a Wrimo in my region. We also happen to hang out a fair bit, and this weekend we went on a caving trip together with a bunch of other cavers. After that ended we had a bunch of extra supplies so we went ahead and went camping for another night at a nearby park.

We tend to do stuff like this together--camping, hiking, pub crawling (and pirate-themed at that). So feelings started to develop on my end, and on the way back to my place today I went ahead and told him. It went something like this:

Me: You probably figured this out by now, but I like you.

Him: Is that a proposal?

Me: Depends. Do you want it to be?

Him: Well, I hate to break your heart, but I don't want anything more.

Oh well. I can pinpoint some reasons why he would make a terrible boyfriend, but to be fair, there wasn't really any awkwardness while we went back to my place and I gave him his Tupperware container back and walked him out of my apartment and we talked for awhile before he left. Given how far he lives from me in this huge region, we'll see how much of an effort he makes to see me for write-ins and such during NaNo season and if maximum awkwardness will ensue since I am one of his MLs.

And then I tweeted somewhat cryptically about it, and people started asking, so I told them (without mentioning his username), and some folks attempted to figure out who it was. Not sure if they succeeded or not. This must be what being famous is like.

However, he is still a good friend, so at least I have that.

Aww, that's disappointing Sushi, but he does sound like a good guy. I hope the awkwardness is kept to a minimum. Worth taking a punt, though. ^_^

Hello, I am the aforementioned Matt.

I felt kinda strange when I stared into the Writing Groups and Clubs Forum. Tingly almost, so I didn't start this thread. It somehow felt wrong that I should start it, so I chickened out and waited for a much braver soul to do the dirty work for me.

Now Sushi has.

I've only been around this thread a couple of years but I am forever single. Is it for a lack of trying? Some would say "yes." Some others would just say "peaches." But we try and ignore those people as they make me confuzzled.

After years of scattershot research, the results of the survey I commissioned are in and I can reveal that the overwhelming trend is that I am not catnip to the ladies. Was that a waste of $5? My crack research team says that you cannot buy crack for $5, so in the end you have to say to yourself "perhaps". But those with enquiring minds would ask what crack has to do with catnip. The answer to this is that I have no idea. I believe we may never find the answer as it is a riddle wrapped in an enigma shoved on a stick and covered in chocolate chip pancake batter.

Perhaps there is some evidence as to why I remain single, but you won't find it in this post as I am certain that I have managed to hide my flaws from you, dear reader.

I could write more, but I'm sure that you have given up reading by now.

I've also been single for quite a while; but guess what, life is so much better without the heartbreaks, annoying boyfriends etc... :D

This is my first year at NaNoWriMo, so I'm stil figuring out how everything works etc... But I'm really looking forward to November already :)

Well, I'm theanab. Been around for a while, and have reached that stage where I'm good with singledom, but don't want to necessarily celebrate it--which is why I passed my forum-starting duties off the Sushi, and she's really done a lovely job of it.

Cheers, everyone. I'll be in and out a lot, as usual, and may well be bringing booze and pot back--we'll see if our budget gets approved.

I'm single and I have a feeling I'll be that way for a few months or so because I was just diagnosed with mono. Ah, yes, the kissing disease. However the last person I kissed didn't have it so I don't really know where I got it. But anyway, now I'm contagious. Ew, cooties. My love life wasn't going anywhere anyway. I think it's because I'm only attracted to about 0.5% of the population and plus I never learned how to flirt. Well, honestly, I still have issues from my last ex, and I'm better off single for now.

So hi everyone. This seems like a nice place (especially if there's booze).

I've decided that my perpetually being single is actually just a ploy to get the TV people to make me "The Bachelor."

Idunno. I've only actively sought a relationship..... twice? Three times? Depending on how you define "Active." Never really worked out. But I'm in no rush -- if there's one thing in life I want to do right the first time, it's this. I'm not one for singles' bars, but I think I can handle a lounge -- much more innocuous.

Oh, it's the Singles Lounge! I tend to lurk in here and last year I just sort of kept losing it in the forums, but I am going to do my best to actually interact some this year.

Anyway, 23, Forever Alone, living in the boondocks currently and thus with no prospects of that changing any time soon, and I think that about sums me up, at least for the time being. I ought to keep some mystery about myself, after all.

Oh, hi there. I'm single, and I don't really like it all that much, but I'm resigned to it for now. I've got a lot of other stuff on my mind at the moment, NaNo not the least of which. ;)
