Welcome, my brothers and sisters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Here we join together on this adventure of creating something wonderful, for in the act of creation we emulate our Creator. This is one of the greatest sources of joy in our lives.
Why hello again larelmian! It always seems to be a race which of us will get this posted first! lol. This year, like last, you beat me to the punch! :)
I'm so excited about the new site and I love the new forums! I love it all! Can't wait for November and the rollicking madness of writing non-stop! :)
And a welcome to swiftflame! Glad to see you here! :)
I'm here too! Gotta say that NaNo made a huge difference in my life last year as I met two awesome NaNo-ers who then introduced me to a writing group especially for LDS women called American Night Writer's Society (ANWA, for short). Anybody else a member?
goddess_evie - I had never heard of that before. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing! And of course, welcome welcome!
Hello again topsecret and student of rhythm! So good to see familiar faces on here once again! Hopefully we'll continue to see many more.
By the way, my son is now 8 1/2 months old, can you believe it?! It's crazy! :) He's so adorable and such a handful! I'm hiring my little brother to come help watch him so I have writing time. Then I'll take a turn watching him so that my brother can write. He's doing the young writer's program. It's really exciting to have someone else in my family participating! :)
Hello wolfoverapril! I hear you on the job. My husband and I decided that it's for the best, so even though we're really tight financially, I'm staying home with Gary (my sweet baby) and focusing on my writing. So, right now I'm still waiting to hear back from Deseret Book about my book. While I'm waiting, the book is available through CreateSpace. (website link is on my profile) I'm kind of going light on marketing it so that I can more easily remove it if Deseret Book does accept it for publication. But, I also don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, so I'm spreading the word locally and with my family.
Cammie - It's amazing the unexpected places we crop up. ;)
Liz - I think you meant share parts with you. Although, my parents are pretty awesome, I'd share them with people. :)
It's so nice to have new faces! I'm really excited for this year and I'm hoping that I can rally some of my friends here into writing with me. It'd be nice to have a real support group along with my virtual one. (You guys are the best!)
Anyway, hugs! I'm going to go have lunch and pretend to get some work done about the house.
We usually get around to this topic sooner or later, so... Is anybody here planning to write something LDS themed? Usually any references in my stories are unplanned, but this year's story was actually inspired by a passage in the Book of Mormon. Ether 9:7-9.
7 And it came to pass that Akish began to be ajealous of his son, therefore he shut him up in prison, and kept him upon little or no food until he had suffered death.
8 And now the brother of him that suffered death, (and his name was Nimrah) was angry with his father because of that which his father had done unto his brother.
9 And it came to pass that Nimrah gathered together a small number of men, and fled out of the land, and came over and dwelt with Omer.
Of course it's a pretty minor bit in the scriptures and I've changed details in the years since the idea first came to me, so I doubt anybody would notice the influence without me telling them. But I know it's there.
this sounds amazing! I hope you have fun writing it. There are so many bits like that, where you read it and go, Wow, I wish I knew the full story there!

Welcome to all!
Re: Mormons
Woo, I found my people! Well, the ones that are more my people and not just random geeks writing books.
Re: Mormons
Hi. I am Mormon. I am writing a novel which includes an opponent and 3 minor characters from the Book of Mormon.
Re: Mormons
Hi! Thanks for stopping by!
Which characters?
Re: Mormons
*Waves* :) I'm a rather unorthodox Mormon. I haven't wandered here before and I'm a little surprised to find this... But pleased!

Re: Mormons
I happened to be monkeying around at the computer last night when the forums reset. This wasn't even the first thread I started.
Hi, pianogirl and Swiftflame.
Last year, I got several notes asking if I was LDS. It came from the fact that I had a quote from President Uchtdorf in my sig.

Re: Mormons
I can't remember if I posted here last year, but I too am also a Mormon and proud of it.
I look forward to NaNoWriMo this year and am wanting to get to know others this year, especially if I still don't have a job to occupy my time.

Re: Mormons
Hi, Topsecret! :)
Well, it seems that I have somewhere new to check in on periodically. But I should really go get breakfast...
Re: Mormons
This is my first year here. I am a Mormon too. It's great that there's a group here--I wasn't expecting that on this Website.
Re: Mormons
Neither was I. I'm pleasantly surprised.
Re: Mormons
Hey guys! I'm Liz. I'm a freshman at BYU-Idaho. My NaNo is really religious based so it'll be nice to perhaps share parents with you!

Re: Mormons
Thats exactly what I meant. Sorry! I was a bit distracted by my roommates!
Re: Mormons
pianogirl - it doesn't feel like it was that long ago we were betting on when he'd appear!
Re: Mormons

Re: Mormons
Hello! I'm so glad to see this here, I'm glad to see that there are some other members of the church on this website! Hello all!
Re: Mormons
Glad you found us, fullhousegal.

Re: Mormons
That sounds like an awesome bit of story there, topsecret.
Re: Mormons
I love that story too! I have a plot semi-worked out around this story. It's tucked away somewhere in my files.
That's cool that you're going to write this-- you go!
Re: Mormons
I'm getting worried that I won't be able to do it justice, but it really wants to be written now.
Re: Mormons

Re: Mormons
That happens to me a lot. I haven't started any of my ideas, though. :) Great idea!
Re: Mormons
I always thought that would make a fun story.
Re: Mormons
I actually did. Conversion story.
Also, sorry everyone, I'm joining the conversation kinda really really late. It's December.
Re: Mormons
Lucky for you, I noticed that several more comments were added and went looking for them all.
Re: Mormons
hi, werekitty13, congrats on your win, nice to meet you. some of us stick around, more or less, in between NaNos. :)
