Introducing Grant Faulkner, Executive Director

Happy new year,  Wrimos!

Here at the Office of Letters and Light, we are well-rested from our holiday nap and fired up for all things 2012.

To kick things off, we’re trumpeting a very special new beginning: Grant Faulkner will be stepping into the role of OLL’s Executive Director on January 9!

When Chris Baty announced that he was leaving the organization to pursue writing full-time, we began searching for the right person to lead this creative and kooky nonprofit into the future.

And boy, did we ever hit the Executive Director (and all-around human being) jackpot with Grant!

He comes to OLL after years with the National Writing Project, a fellow Berkeley nonprofit that collaborates with teachers to improve writing in schools. A novelist, scriptwriter, and essayist, Grant also runs his own online literary journal, 100 Word Story.

Grant served on OLL’s 2011 board of directors, and has already helped us grow and fortify our programs. He is also the father of two Young Writers Program participants!

We are so thrilled to work with him in his new position as Executive Director. You’ll hear from Grant himself next week when he gets into the office.

And to help us wish Chris Baty well on his future endeavors, check out the video tribute project coordinated by OLL’s board of directors. You can post your own video thank-you in the comments section!

Warmest wishes to everyone out there in the OLL-iverse.  Here’s to all of our new beginnings and continued adventures!
