This novel is not - let me be clear - NOT a Mary-Sue-ridden fanfic based on an anime I watch regularly. It's cool, it only scored 20 on the Universal Mary-Sue Litmus Test!
Look, okay, I *am* writing a One Piece fanfic. I've never written a fanfic before, but I've watched the show for 6 years now and I think it's a great adventure series, with topics for all ages. I've had a plotline forming in my head for months now and given that the One Piece universe is already there and doesn't need any creative input on my part (actually, it'll take research to make sure I'm not breaking OP universe rules), then I think going the fanfic route will make it easier to actually win NaNoWriMo. Which I really want to do this year. It's one of my 30-things-to-do-before-I-turn-30. So I'm trying to make this as simple as possible for myself.
