Author bio:
So, hi. My name is Amanda and I'm 25 years old. I started on my NaNo journey in 2004. I had just been fired from my job and needed something to keep me occupied that wasn't daytime talk shows and soap operas. I think one of my LJ friends posted about NaNo, so I checked it out.
And I got hooked.
The next few years I was unable to concentrate on NaNo because of crazy work and school schedules - I couldn't focus on writing when I had so many things going on during November, whether it was the busy pre-Christmas/"It's raining let's go shopping" season, or a newly found course load that I wouldn't have been able to juggle NaNo around.
By 2008 I was unemployed again, which meant that I could concentrate on my writing again. I've been able to find time every November since then, thanks to no more schoolwork and finally having a quiet place where I can get my writing done.
With original fiction, I usually write supernatural fiction - my 2004 novel was about a vampire that was terrorizing a band camp, my 2008 piece was about a recently made werewolf coming to grips with his condition and my 2010 piece was about a girl who had just recently died and was being recruited to be a guardian angel. My 2009 piece was the beginning of a sequel to one of my fanfiction stories, and it's still being worked on and posted, two years later.
During the rest of the year, I still write. I have two fanfiction series I work on as often as I can (though for some people, not often enough, hahaha), and I try to work on my original projects. When I'm not writing, I'm usually reading, working, playing video games and watching TV. I love musicals - Glee is one of my favorite TV shows and whenever there's a musical on I tune in, much to the grumbling of my boyfriend :P.
