I am a short story writer who wants to make the transition to being a novelist. I have never written anything longer than 5,000 words, and so I fully expect to fail my first NaNo miserably. However, I am thrilled at the chance to challenge myself and hopefully to smash through those pesky psychological barriers that keep me as a short story writer. If I write 5,000 or more, I'll consider it a grand psychological victory. :-)
