A Prequil to my story last year.
In a time when magic is hunted a young woman struggles with a gift of healing more powerful than she can control. She is living to the best of her abilities. there is no home for her. she has been alone since her master was killed years earlier.
Two men searching for the way back home. fate leads them to a young woman who draws there interest. they soon find there is more to her than they first would have thought and they will do any thing to protect her.

“Did you come here to talk?”
He rotated his arm slightly so she could see the glint of metal at his wrist. A mischievous smile touching his lips. “I thought we could give these kids a show.” He nodded at the young guard, who she had seen at the gardens the previous day.
“You brought your young buck?”
“I might have let it slip I was coming for a visit.” He shrugged in mock innocence.
“There do seem to be more of the guard here this morning.” She stood stretching. “Let’s get started before they die of curiosity.”
They walked to one of the practice rings. As soon as they reached it most of the on lookers crowded around the ring. They were oddly quiet, as if they were watching storm clouds approaching and were waiting to see what they brought. Akiku finished her stretches and approached the center of the ring Hadren stood across from her. He held out his hand and she griped his forearm.
“First blood wins.” He asked his eyes locked on hers.
A mischievous smile barely formed on her lips. “After the usual warm up of course.”
As they held eye contact she felt the world around them fade away and time seamed to slow slightly. It was just the two of them, it was a bad idea to narrow your focus so much in battle, but here in the practice yard against Hadren she could. She could tell he was doing the same thing. It was freeing in a way to pull all her focus away from the people around them. Silence fell over her as she blocked out the hum of their heart beats drawing hers and Hadren’s in to sharp focus. They each took three steps back. One deep calming breath and they were both came together again.
