Author bio:

Hello, my name is Anne (or Anne-Elisabeth, both are legal and "the A-E" is an alias professional name). This is my first year participating in NaNoWriMo. I've been writing - creatively and professionally - since I was a young adult. One of my dreams and goals in life is to be an editor and to provide publishing opportunities for new writers.

I'm a therapist/counselor and my specialty is in transition - providing resources that facilitate change and/or behaviour in the human experience. I find that writing can be a great contributor to the process of making changes in our own lives, to rewriting the past and in moving forward to create enrichment in our lives. If that sounds too idealistic think about how and why we have a website and forum to share our goals and dreams of becoming a published author. I've really come to appreciate the current societal trend of social media and blogging simply because this creates opportunity for anyone to voice opinion and to share their own professional or personal human experience.

During this month of writing, I'd like to offer my living room for unofficial write-ins to others who might be interested. Morning and afternoon informal meetings would be great.

About myself, I am a longtime resident of Albuquerque although I've had the opportunity to reside in other wonderful cities. I consider Albuquerque my home base. Also, my family, friends and colleagues have been associated with the University of New Mexico for many years. That includes my dog. who is uniquely trained as a service animal. I don't use him to that capacity anymore since my physical health is much more stable and since he is older now and in semi-retirement as a working animal. I have two adult children; my daughter attends UNM and my son is assigned to Fort Drum in upstate New York. I completed a Bachelor of University Studies in Human Services which is now converted to a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Anthropology. My area of study is in the mammalian adaptation. I also am a paralegal. This year I've resumed by graduate studies and look forward to completing my coursework and requirements for licensure in Mental Health Counseling. I use alternative wellness and alternative medicine as a mean s of providing therapeutic resources including horticultural therapy, music therapy, writing, journal therapy with the use of tarot cards, astrology, feng shui, acupuncture, acupressure, therapeutic massage, doll and play therapy, and the use of folk medicine in the form of curanderismo and herbs. (I found it quite flattering that my daughter "borrowed" my books in natural healing to create a character in one of the books she wrote.)

My leisure activities - well, actually, those were my leisure activities. : ) The rest of them include country western and swing dancing, singing and performance, karaoke - I'm a diehard karaoke diva, gardening, dolls and doll costuming, and I just purchased a piano for anyone interested in playing because I love piano music.

I look forward to being a part of your community. Best wishes to everyone as you pursue your writing goals!

Sincerely,

Anne - Elisabeth
