Work in progress, but here we go....
Pari is a research scientist on the cutting edge of understanding why memories fade--and how to stop them from fading. She lives in a world where virtual reality jaunts, remote-controlled robot representatives, and cyber body modification are a way of life. In many ways in her life, she is close to a breakthrough; her research is progressing, and she's recently met a man who gave her a bit of hope for the future, someone who might even be worth falling in love with. But when Pari's research bears sudden fruit, she also discovers some unintended consequences; the principles she's developed could easily be used for evil. To protect the world, she destroys the evidence of her findings and flees, leaving behind both her life's work and the man of her dreams. Now, more than one mysterious entity is hot on her trail--both in the digital world and the real one. How can she know who to trust, who to turn to, and who to run from?
Jorn Ferenon is a cyber security officer for one of the largest virtual reality communities of 2042. Jorn spends his days fighting off attacks and settling disputes; he spends his nights on the Inside, experiencing all the wonder and strangeness of cyberspace. Jorn prides himself on being a self-sufficient loner; he gives himself everything he really needs. But when he meets Pari, a beautiful but secretive research scientist, she stirs a need in him he had long tried to shut away. He begins to fall for her. But when Pari disappears from his life without warning, Jorn tries to settle back into his old ways, but nothing is the same. Jorn decides he must find Pari, discover what happened to her research, and convince her that she doesn't need to run--at least not from him.
Unbeknownst to each of them, Jorn and Pari repeatedly meet and fall in love as many different "people." Will they discover just how many times they've fallen for each other, or will they miss their chance at true love by a hair?
