yo yo yo
I'm a humanities student from Alabama who has attempted, and failed, to finish a fifty thousand-word venture for the past two Novembers. At the moment I must admit I'm more dedicated to finally slogging my way through college than finishing a novel, but that doesn't mean I won't attempt that sweet 50,000 mark every year until I've finally hit it. Not counting boatloads of papers and projects, I have plenty other distractions as well that will likely keep me occupied this November. Vidya gaymes, reading, and short-short fiction and poetry ventures are my primary forms of entertainment, and they certainly leave me wondering where all my free time went. I also am currently hard at work in a collaborative visual novel project with some good friends, so writing scenes and participating in discussion are always on my mind.
So the odds are stacked against me this year, but I'm still trying. I'm happy to share words of encouragement with other wannabe-authors, too, and of course it's always fun to talk about your next best novel idea rather than, y'know, write it. NaNoWriMo's about the joy of writing as well as the product itself, so don't be afraid to let yourself relax. If it's not fun, don't write it.
