Synopsis
Beccalyn di Valira is the privileged and wealthy heiress of half of Kilteo Island. When her father, Lord Markus, dies unexpectedly the family is devastated. Many facts come out as a result of this death including the revelation that Becca is not the biological daughter of the man she always called "Father." Armed with the name her mother gave her, Rael, and the general area in which he was from, Becca sets out to discover who her true father is. In the process Becca learns of the existence of the elven people in the Unknown Forest, Galeina. To add to her discovery, Becca learns of a prophecy that she is to fulfill, the prophecy of Elvard on the Daughter of the Angels.
This is my idea for starting but it will probably change a bit as my characters have the annoying habit of hijacking my story and taking it a different direction than I originally thought it would go. Darn those characters! It is a shame they are necessary for a novel...
Excerpt
The Prophecy of Elvard
The day will come when one will rise
Not quite elven, not quite human
In between and quite unique
She will save us from the fears of evil days
Onto her shall come a power
Of great might to overcome
Those created for our demise
Those who kill and feed on fear
But alone she will not be
By her side shall be her Guide
Leading her with graceful strides
To the greatest battle of the days
Also by her hand shall be another
The Protector with his blade
Shall ever strive to keep her safe
And even give his life for hers
A third one still shall be with her
One to watch her from afar
The Wise One will with knowledge sure
Help her choose the surest path
Only by the rise of this one girl
not quite elven, not quite human
We shall live in harmony
With all the peace of Graelyn's hand
Wait on her always and take note
She walks with nobles and the poor
All who come to her she helps
She is our blessing in disguise
The Daughter of the Angels come to earth
"We all have a past we are not proud of. We all have a past we would love to forget. Our past does not define us. The past only gives on the ability to change the future. Will you, Aveldi, help me, Beccalyn, change the future?"
