Author bio:

I am a twentysomething who enjoys crisp autumn days, early morning cups of coffee, and the beauty of filling a blank page with words. I am a proud graduate of American University (B.A. International Relations, May 2006) and recipient of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange fellowship in Germany, as well as participant in the School of International Training’s Modernization and Social Change program in Jordan. I have resided in the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia area for the last decade and love the combination of culture, politics, and mixture of Northern and Southern attitudes.

My passions include women’s health, gender and sexuality issues, social media, ecology and environment, art, and youth empowerment. I’m an advocate for reproductive rights, sex education, and mental health awareness. In the past, I have worked for an ecological publisher, a health-based academic non-profit, and a civic education organization teaching middle-school and high-school youth history, politics, and government structure. During the last ten years in the Washington, DC area, I have gained experience in non-profits ranging from event planning to communications.

I am a voracious reader, movie dork, grammar geek, and music addict. I adore stringing words together to tell stories. I have a soft spot for fairy tales. I believe in self-motivation and self-fulfilling prophecies. Some of my favorite things include brilliant colors, robust words, spicy Thai and Indian food, green city parks, and rainy afternoons.
