On November the First, 2012, dawns the first day of the fifth year of Noveling for one young lady, hunched over a glowing screen, surrounded by piles of half-empty Reese's Pieces packages--
Okay, let's hope not. But this will be my fifth NaNo, and I will hopefully finish with my back upright, munching on something slightly healthier.
The first novel I attempted to write involved a Neverland-ish world reached by five children when they fell over a waterfall. A few thousand words in, the television became more interesting. My second year seemed brighter, with a story involving a 7-plus-foot-tall satyr, a young lady with a height complex, and something actually resembling a plot. However, a bought of the flu ended it prematurely, as well.
Year three began with a girl's quest to help a photosynthetic boy in a sunless world, and ended with trumpet fanfare. Well, not really, but I did finish.
Then came 2011, my favorite novel yet; again matching my theme of girl-meets-weird boy. Except this time, he was Death, which was amusing. I got rather stuck in that world, and for August's Camp Nano, I wrote a sequel that... sort of stunk, but it was fun while it lasted.
This time, I'll delve into alternate history, and hopefully emerge victorious once again! (While keeping my grades up... college can really cut into novel-time.)
