When a strange new boy shows up at her school, and a stranger, new girl comes to Adelaide Giovaldi's hometown, she gets dragged into a world of vampires, witches, magical creatures and everything she never believed in. Suddenly there are politics, alliances and people out to kill her. Every step she takes puts her deeper in this world, and she must adapt or die. Of course, no one is ever who they first are seen to be.
“Honestly I was hoping I would never have to do this, at least not now. But the foolish whims of an old woman are ignored by fate again.” She said, not looking at Adelaide. Gone was the carefree hippie her mom normally was, bouncy and happy; this version of her just looked tired and worn out.
“Well Adelaide, I’m not going to be able to sugarcoat this at all. Honey, I am not who you have thought I am for all these years.” she said. Before she could say anything further, Adelaide interrupted angrily.
“Is anyone who I thought they were? Why is this all happening now? Why to me!?” she said, trying not to let her voice crack on the last part.
“Adelaide, all of this has been happening for a long time. There was nothing I could do but keep it from you as long as possible. But when you came home the other night late and in a daze, I knew I couldn’t run away any longer. And because of decisions made that you had no part of and didn’t even know about, you can't run away from it anymore either. Adelaide, I’m not human. I’m a witch.” Her mom said.
“You’re a WHAT?” said Adelaide, but before her mom could reply, Adelaide fainted.
