I discovered NaNoWriMo in an article written by a co-worker back in 2002 and I got curious how the entire thing works. I've always written my own stories ever since Sweet Valley, Sweet Dreams and Nancy Drew, and the prospect of finally taking on a grandiose project like this appealed to me. I only won in 2008 on sheer word count alone, did it again in 2009 and continued to finish writing the entire thing and ending at around 60k+ words. I even got a CreateSpace proof of the novel, but I couldn't bear reading the crap I churned out.
I skipped the challenge in 2010 when I thought I was going to be writing a huge ass technical white paper for work, but the project never really pushed through (thank God!). I'm back this year with a totally new environment and hoping I'd get my act together, stop procrastinating and start writing!
