Synopsis

The countries of the North have been in darkness for centuries. The people turned from their God and their prophets long ago, and they live in constant fear of their enemies, the bands from the South that are slowly taking over the land. Hadar, king of Ramatha, and the other rulers of the surrounding countries unite in one final effort to defeat the enemy. But when the soldiers of the North are utterly destroyed and Ramath-Gilead, the royal city, is ransacked, to where will the nations turn?

Excerpt

There was a time when men were noble. A time when the sun did not hide its face in shame from the Earth, when men lived and died for what was right. There was a time when brothers defended sisters, and husbands counted the names of the ancient and royal cities as dear as their own. A time when mothers held together their homes as their soldiers defended them, when sweethearts let their men go to battle, weeping over their bodies after it was all over.
