On one hand it's pretty sad to be an aspiring writer at 44 years old. On the same hand, being encouraged to finally sign up and do this by a 19 year old who has completed 2 of 4 attempts is even sadder. So let me quit typing while I am ahead. (2009)

So it's 2011 now, the world supposedly ends next March and I am still an aspiring writer who has done nothing to strengthen that goal. Close to editing my 2009 NaNovel and I self-published my older blogs using the free Create Space codes but that's about it. On a more positive note, I brought the Young Writer's Program up to my boy, Connor. He's nine and decided to join us in this novelling adventure. His self-inflicted goal is 3000 words, more than twice the fourth grade recommendation. "Daddy, that's only one hundred words a day."

That beats anything else I may think of accomplishing in my life! Look to meet him at the write ins this year.

Oct 2012 update: With people still talking about the end of the world and our president most likely being reelected to see us through it. In other unchanging news there is still so little to update about myself in here. I love my life and who I am so it isn't that big of a deal. Maybe I enjoy being an aspiring writer more than an actual one. In any case, year four is here and i am excited to be attempting yet again another fifty thousand words of fiction with y'all.

Connor, my mini me, is even more excited about November than his dad is. This year's goal is 6000 words, and if he doubles each year he will be at 50,000 words by the time he is thirteen and old enough to be on the NaNo website. Turns out he is in the top .001% of readers in the Chatham County school system, which is awesome, and he is not the smartest one of his classmates, which is even more awesome. He has discovered science (I hope I get to dissect a frog this year daddy) and math this year as being fun and he read through two of the Hitchhiker's Guide books while camping this past week and fell in love with them.

All in all I think things are moving along profoundly.
