I'm a chronologically gifted single mom of a daughter and her horse. Trained as a biological oceanographer, I'm currently working as a Quality Assurance Data Wrangler. My dislike of hurricanes (yes, Anita, I’m looking at you) keeps the Midwest attractive.
I aspire to (quoting Elizabeth Bear here) "tell lies to strangers for money."
On being a writer: “Well, it can’t be a difficult job, given that all the words have probably been invented already, so there’s a saving in time right there, considering that you simply have to put them together in a different order.” -- the Sam Vimes perspective, in Snuff by Terry Pratchett
2002: signed up 10/31; somehow wrote about 12K of fantasy but it was horrid. Stored deep in the trunk.
2003: another attempt at previous year’s story. Made 50K but basic conflict didn’t hold up.
2007: Lost password so created new screen name. Third try on same story; pushed time line back about 10 years. Best effort to that point, but was an editing nightmare.
2008: rebel year; total rewrite of 2007 novel from beginning. It’s decent now, and as soon as I figure out the ending I’ll pull it all together. Shadows Dancing with the Wind
2009: rebel year; three pieces of various lengths; all MCs telepathic
2010: high fantasy with dwarf, dragon and wizard. Affairs of Dragons
2011: urban science fiction adventure/romance. On a Rising Tide
2012: another rebel year. 16 short stories (SF/F, lit fic). Ravalion's Crown and Other Stories
