Gareth rubbed his temples. “Since I can’t get a clear story and no witnesses are ready to talk, this will have to wait till tomorrow.” Simon slipped down from his horse, Shadow, and put a hand on Gareths shoulder.
“We should get back.”
Unexpectedly Shadow tossed her head and tugged at her reins, they fell from Simon’s hand. Before he could react she stepped foreword to nuzzled the girl.
“Hello Shadow.” Safira patted the horse’s velvet nose.
Simon’s eyes narrowed, he pulled shadow back, gently.
“Have we met before?”
The girl sighed. “Shadow, you blew my cover. Bad girl” The horse tossed her head and whinnied.
A guard shoved her “you will address the Lord with respect!” Simon motioned for him to stop.
“do I know you?” he asked.
The girl gave a small smile.
