She also served as a member of the staff of Thin Air Magazine, the graduate literary journal at NAU, first as a staff reader, and later as the Poetry Editor for the journal. Shortly after graduating from her Master’s program, Khara received a one-year teaching position at Northern Arizona University; during that time, she taught English Composition, and was later invited to teach an Intermediate Poetry Workshop.
Khara’s writing has appeared or is forthcoming in various publications including The Atomy, Bluestem, Red River Review, Bolts of Silk, and Four Ties Literary Review. Her writing has also appeared on various Yahoo! sites and various blogs. She has been actively writing “for as long as [she] can remember,” which is at least since she was approximately 4 years old!
When Khara isn’t busy writing, she can be found teaching, volunteering, reading various works of poetry, fiction, narrative nonfiction, and so forth, taking part in local poetry readings, or singing her heart and lungs out at a local karaoke night.
