Laughing Panther
Author bio:
Ah, time to update the profile again! Hello my novelling buddies. I'm super excited about this year. This is the year, I swear. Not the year I win, I've done that, but the year I write something worth keeping. I've spent the last eight years nano-ing and I've come up with one thing worth publishing. This year is going to be different. I am inspired, I am ready, I also just quit my job which means I have plenty of time to write. At least, that's what my wife is telling me. By the by, I've got a lovely wife. She's not a writer but is an excellent reader and a wonderful source for ideas. She's my sounding board. Now that I am unemployed, my goal is to write and publish as soon as possible. I've got the end of the year marked as my deadline for novel submission. I'm currently working on a novella that will hopefully go out before the end of November, despite the fact that I am going to start another novel in the mean time. I was born in this, uh, most excellent, region of the country but have plans to escape as fast as I possibly can. I want to go to Portland OR where the weather is finer and the food and people are slightly more exciting. By the bye, I love to eat, so when you get super frustrated about your MC's best friend who randomly decided to get a tattoo and a piercing and now your MC wants to also, even though they're getting ready for an EPIC SERIOUS moment in their life, call me and I'll be happy to grab some appetizers and cry or laugh over how odd it is when your characters start to do stupid things you wish they wouldn't.
I'm a reader. Seriously. If there's a book out there to read, I've got to read it. Ask my ML, once upon a time I had a dining room in my house and now I have a library. A huge one. I add to it all the time. I love my books like children and I have nearly 1300 books at last count (and I haven't updated that count for about two years...its another one of my projects). I've got a list as long as my arm of books I want, and those are just non-fiction. I love fiction even better than that, so lets just say my love of writing and reading is somewhat more than skin deep.
I don't know if I'll get to a write in. I hope I do, because I love wrimos. They inspire me and make me laugh. Some of the best, most offbeat moments in my first novel came from our dares thread. As a group, you inspire me. I would never have known I could get so much happiness out of my career if it hadn't been for the wrimos. Also, I might have met my best friend through NANO, so you know, I tend to be biased about it.
A word of caution whether you meet me in person or not: I have no filter. I am not able to sound sweet, even when I want to. I let it all hang out. I'll read with you, talk to you, sing to you- whatever you need to get that novel written. I don't care who you are, where you came from, or what you do when you aren't writing a novel. Now, you want to be pals? Awesome, like I said, I met my BFF on Nano. You want to get to know me? Awesome. I think I'm a pretty interesting chick. I hope you're cool too. You want to start picking on me or mine because of my personal life, something I wrote on my blog (which you secretly stalk) or something I said in passing at a write -in that doesn't jive with your personal life philosophy? The claws will come out, quickly my friend. I'll win a flame war, I'll win a fight. I may not be better, but I'm tenacious, and you'll never see me coming. I promise. But lets be friends, yeah? I just like to be clear from the outset. I'll love you as long as you like. I'm good at that.
Lets see then...hmmm....I love spa treatments, exciting getaways and music. I love chocolate chip ice cream with hot fudge and gummy worms. I can make a killer blend of tea, no matter what you need it for. I like skirts better than pants and boots better than shoes (you can kick stuff harder). I'm a Gemini Rising paired with a Capricorn Sun, so I've got you covered on both the party and the plans for it.
