Synopsis
The story is based in 2008, a 20 year old girl, Nthabi, returns to South Africa after a failed stint in Europe. She has suffered a lot in the last two years. There is a possibility that she was raped during a burglary which resulted in the murder of her parents. Her mother was brutally raped during the incident which Nthabi pretended to sleep through.
Nthabi is trying to get to grips with the guilt that is plaguing her which is mainly caused by her general apathy about the gruesome murder of her parents and she feels like she could have done something.
She has arrived in Cape Town after her stay in Ireland with her brother and his Polish wife did not go as planned.
She repeated the final year of high school at Ireland to stay in the country and worked in a book shop. She has no idea what she will do in Cape Town, she only has money to last her three months and a rich aunt she is reluctant to contact. This story will follow her painful journey as she encounters more heart ache and pain, her social awkwardness only making her path that much more uncomfortable.
Not a fun story perhaps but maybe there is happiness at the end of the tunnel.
