Author bio:

2012 will be my ninth attempt at NaNoWriMo, my fourth as a co-ML for Atlanta, and it's my third as ML for Georgia-Elsewhere. I'm a former mod of Religious Lit for three years, and former mod of LitFic for two years. And this is my second year as a ML Mentor.

AKA - I do the nano.

The first year I attempted one went down in flames after day,
Year 2 went great and started a really great novel which is still sitting unfinished. Until now.
Year 3 I decided to do it on Halloween and wrote a completely fluff novel that I had a blast writing,
Year 4 I tried to write a story beyond my capabilities but hit 125k words in it and got halfway done. 7 person dialogues just suck,
Year 5, for the first time I actually finished the story. Well, 2 stories - wrote two 60k novels that are kinda like a part 1 and 2.
Year 6 I wrote a 150k word tomb on a messed up thanksgiving. And started on a second one that was firmly YA.
Year 7 I wrote an incredibly depressing novel about gay teen suicide that when I try to reread I get depressed because it's THAT sad. Wow. I can be dark.
Year 8 I tried to go outside my usual dark litfic by writing a dystopia style novel. It didn't work.
And now Year 9. I'm rewriting that Year 2 NaNo completely - pretty much just keeping the character names, a little bit of the bio, and the basic plot shell.

And I do a lot other, non-writing stuff. I'm a pretty active and passionate Unitarian Universalist both on the congregational level and the denominational level. I work a ton. Etc. And such.

And yes - I'm the guy who wrote the Freddy the Frog story.

Depends on the scene. Techno for word counts, Sad stuff for Sad Scenes. I'm planning on Mumford and Sons, Of Monsters and Men, and a little John Mayer this year.
