Author bio:
Hi, I'm Iris! I live with my boyfriend and two cats in the forest somewhere. I've graduated from art college in Den Bosch, the Netherlands, in 2011. I've loved writing ever since I was a kid, and used to carry a writing pad everywhere when I was about 8. Whenever someone'd ask what I was writing, I'd tell them that I was writing a novel. I always wanted to become a novellist before the age of 18, and while I have written a 120-word-pages-long story at age 12-13, I never did get published, of course (or even bother editting or developing the text further; I mostly just loved the writing itself).
Realizing that it was unlikely I'd get published, let alone make a living out of writing, I decided to follow art college and become an illustrator. Haha, I'm joking of course -- that's supposed to say "accepted my destiny of being broke as a creative soul and followed my passions". I held a pencil to draw even before I held a pencil to write with, though.
With about 130 words p/m (or about 600 keys/min tapped, as we count in the Netherlands) I'm a pretty fast typer, which is why I love writing so much. I enjoy re-reading my own texts because half the time, my brain moves slower than my fingers and I surprise myself with my own, dragged-from-the-subconscious writing.
2011 was my first ever time to participate, and I'm already looking forward to next year!
Finished novels in NaNoWriMo:
2011: War's Heroes -- 160,436 words (English). Finished the novel's story during NaNoWriMo.
