Author bio:
Writing has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. My earliest writing memory is from the first grade when I co-wrote a holiday play about Santa and his workshop; I even had a cameo appearance as Mrs. Claus in the production. The same year I also wrote my first book. It wasn't much, a few lined pages between a pink poodle wallpaper cover, but it was my story, and my book; my very first one.
In 1984 I earned a Future Author Award, which proved to be one of the first writing milestones in my career. A few years later, I went to New York University and got my BFA in theater. My time at NYU was both exhilarating and scary. I loved the idea of moving to a place where I could redefine myself and be whatever I wanted to be, but at the same time, it was scary - my first time in NY was the day I moved into the dorms freshman year - talk about a giant leap of faith!
After college, I went to work. There were plenty of bills to pay, and my creative writing took a backseat to more technical writing: developing marketing collateral, press releases, analytical presentations, and company bid proposals. With a busy full time work schedule, and juggling responsibilities as a mother and wife, it took awhile before my creative writing bubbled back to the surface.
My first project back in the creative arena was a book called, Do You?; a collection of original poems & photographs. Do You? earned accolades from both the Writers’ Digest International Self-Published Book Awards and the New York Book Festival. I've also had work published in the NH Troubadour and The Raymond Voice.
Currently, my focus is on writing for young adults (YA). I just finished a YA sci-fi novel, which is the first in a planned trilogy.
