Synopsis

It seemed innocent enough. A football championship in the bag, and the head cheerleader by his side. Life was good for Blake.

However, a car accident severed all of the ties to the outside world while on the way home from a football awards ceremony. And now, Blake is stranded by the highway outside of Seattle, bleeding and left for dead.

But there is someone in the woods with him. And she wants him. She will stop at nothing to have him.

Excerpt

When Blake opened his eyes, he saw only fast-moving blurs. He looked around, groggy from the accident, and saw Rachel leaning against the dashboard. Her eyes were closed in a pained expression, and blood trickled from a deep cut on her forehead. She grimaced and groaned, then opened her eyes slowly. "Blake?" When she said his name, tears came to his eyes. Thank God she was all right.

"Blake...what happened?" He didn't know how to answer. All around him, the darkness seemed to surround him and swallow them whole. He had never been afraid of the dark, but he sure was afraid now. He tried to move closer to Rachel as her body convulsed in a shiver; then screamed. He couldn't help but to do so as pain shot through his left shoulder up into his throat and head. Rachel screamed with him, but he assumed it was mostly out of panic for his sake. He looked up, and there; protruding from his torn shirt, was a gnarled tree branch.
