Raised in the ever-expanding mining town, Sudbury, Ontario, Kayla solo-read her first book at the age of three because she truly believed that children needed to know how to read prior to starting school and feared ridicule should she fail in this endeavor. Not one to ignore a necessary task, Kayla finally sounded her way through "What Does Boots See?" - a delightful tale about a cat who explores his house identifying every day objects. From that moment on Kayla knew she wanted to be a writer.

Kayla lives with her best German Shepherd friend, Maxwell, enjoys reading, a variety of TV shows, recreational blogging and the occasional Coke Zero.
