I don't like hot weather, the sound of husking corn. I don't like to drop a book in the bath, to be called "hon" by girls younger than me, the split-second panic after leaving the house when I wonder if I left the burner on.
I like the taste of dandelion milk, the smell of trees after a rain, the warmth of fresh laundry. I like black coffee, to jitterbug in feathers and sequins, to kiss strangers, the first cigarette of the day.
Someday I'd like to be somebody, if only to a few devoted lunatics who would shower me in panties and wildflowers. That would be nice, I think.
