Hi, I'm Paleface Dupree! I majored in English and enjoy all kinds of books and stories, from Homer's Odyssey and Valmiki's Ramayana, to Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray and Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Bros. Karamazov. I also admire contemporary authors like C.S. Lewis, Flannery O'Connor, and A.B. Yehoshua. I like French Revolution stories. And I really do love the Bible.
I'm intrigued by drama and the theater. My favorite plays so far (including musicals and rock opera) are Cyrano de Bergerac, [The Scottish Play], Much Ado About Nothing, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Phantom of the Opera, A Raisin in the Sun, The Importance of Being Earnest, and The Scarlet Pimpernel.
I'm borderline obsessed with India. I love curry, and I'm trying to learn two Indian languages (Hindi and Oriya).
This is my second year attempting NaNoWriMo, and I feel giddy and excited. I'm a perfectionist with a bad habit of planning my novels to death before I even start them... so, I'm hoping NaNoWriMo will help free me from that pattern and force me to just WRITE and have fun. Last year I dropped out about two weeks into it, so this year I'm even more determined to stick it out to the end.
As Ms. Frizzle from The Magic Schoolbus series always said, "Take chances! Make mistakes! Get MESSY!!!"
