Synopsis

11/30/11 10:30 p.m. +3,782 today for a total of 75,427 words! I don't feel the need to run it through the validator again, as I've already more than won NaNoWriMo. I feel like this is a pretty good story, with some really good scenes (as well as a lot that need some re-writing, and a lot that need a lot of re-writing, LOL!) But overall, I'm very happy with my first draft of my first attempt at a "real" novel. I write books! :D
---
11/29/11 11:30 p.m. +2,036 today for a total of 71,645 words. Aiming for hitting 75k tomorrow. If I can flesh out the last scene I need to write a bit, I should make it!
---
11/28/11 10 p.m. +1,748 for a total of 69,609 today. Will enter the 70,000s tomorrow! I'm fleshing out a few early scenes right now, saving the final scene for Wednesday if I can bear to!
---
11/27/11 11:30 p.m. A total of +1,937 written today for a grand total of 67,861. I'm too tired to figure out how few words that was this evening. About 250. More tomorrow!
----
11/27/11 2:30 p.m. +1,683 at a write-in, first hour, bringing me to 67,607. Will be doing more later.
---
11/26/11 +2,411 today, for a total of 65,924. It's looking like the basic story will be topping out in the 70k range, with some growth to come as I flesh out some of the scenes I kind of skipped over in the past week or so when I got bogged down. It feels good to be on a roll again!
---
11/25/11 +2,036 today, bringing me to 63,513. Validated today, too. And, I'm finally getting close to setting up the final scenes in this story. Still a lot to write, though, including some more boring-type things that I'll shoehorn in to some of the sparser scenes, once I get to the end of this story.
---
11/24/11 no words today. Too tired. Cooked all day. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
---
11/23/11 11:58 p.m. +341 today after making three pies. Dead tired and that is all I can manage! 61,477 total.
---
11/22/11 10:20 p.m. +755 today after a late start, for a total of 61,136. I have to figure out what happens in the cold snap before I can finish this next scene. Then they have a couple scenes of stuff going their way, before another apparent setback. Hoping for some good writing time this weekend, but I might have to work some overtime as well. OT is ok...more money...I just hope it doesn't cut into my writing time too much!
---
11/21/11 10 p.m. +2125 today, for a total of 60,381. I'm glad I got to this last section of the book, things are moving more quickly and easily in the narration now! Last week got not-so-fun for awhile but now this is fun again. :D
---
11/20/11 10 pm. +1059 today (late start at 9 p.m.) for a total of 58,256. They have moved, and are getting settled. The stage is set for their adventures in the final location in this book.
---
11/19/11 8 p.m. A total of 2,112 today, bringing me to 57,197. My MCs have just found the place where the final section of the story takes place. Yay! Now to move there, and get on with living. Which will happen tomorrow. Goodnight! (P.S. I think I have a title now!)
---
11/19/11 +985 this morning, bringing me to 56,070. Just decided to skip some of the part that was bogging me down and get back to it later. This next part should be a lot more interesting. Only two of us at the write-in this afternoon so we bagged it - which means even MORE writing to do this evening!
---
11/18/11 533 words after a late start this evening. 55,085 total. Might not get as much done tomorrow as I'd like. There will be a delay at the doctor's office. Should be a pen & notebook, note-making kind of a morning. Hopefully that will result in some good words to get me through the final transition and into the final section of my book.
---
11/17/11 Only 330 today but a lot of research. Total 54552. Getting ready to add a lot tomorrow and this weekend. May even get close to the end of my story!
---
11/16/11 +2,153 today for a total of 54,232 and my story is getting closer to winding up. (It's early October in my story, and I have things mapped out through the winter and early spring, although most of that will be snapshots of events over the winter & spring.)
---
11/15/11 Falling asleep as I type, so quitting after 1,311 words for a total of 52,079. I got my people out of the mountains...I'll get them to their next destination tomorrow.
---
11/14/11 8 p.m. 1689 for the day, 50,768 total, and I'm giving myself the rest of the evening off to think and plan the next few scenes. That way my next few evenings of writing will go more smoothly! :D
---
11/14/11 7:00 p.m. Hit 50k a few minutes ago - at the Midway Party! 50,113 to be precise, at the moment. Yay for me! However, I still have another 35-40k to write, at least, to get the story finished. So I'll still be here on NaNoWriMo, writing like crazy, for another couple of weeks. :D
---
11/13/11 9:45 p.m. A total of 6,304 written today, for a total novel length (so far) of 49,079! Will take it to 50k tomorrow at the Mid-Way Party - I've gotten to the point this evening where my writing is more vague notes than actual novel scenes. I mean, really, shouldn't a scene be more than one or two sentences? I thought so. (Almost 21k for the 3-day weekend, thanks to the Veteran's Day challenge. And I'm almost at 50k, woot! However, my story is only about 2/3rds done at this point, and there are other parts I need to flesh out...so I'm looking at at least 85-90k by the end of the month, just to properly tell this story.)
---
11/13/11 11:45 a.m. 2,368 this morning for a total of 45,143, and heading to a write-in. Probably won't make 50k at the write-in, but will this evening!
---
11/12/11 9:45 p.m. A down day, tired after yesterday. Got 2,129 at a write-in, then barely 500-something this evening. Time to call it a day! 2,676 for the day, ending at 42,775. Will do more tomorrow.
---
11/11/11 11:45 p.m. 11,968 today, to end at 40,099, and I'm falling asleep as I'm writing, so I think it's time to call it a day. I wrote for about 10 and a half hours, which is plenty for anyone.
---
11/11/11 10:45 p.m. 11,111 today, on the nose, for a total of 39,242 so far. Time for a little ice cream celebration, for I made it in under 11 hours. 9:40, to be exact. :D After my ice cream celebration, I will come back and write a little more, to get to the 40k milestone. I'm jazzed!
---
11/11/11 just before 10 p.m. 10,219 today, for a total of 38,350 so far. A little over 2 hours on the countdown clock, and less than 900 words to go to reach the goal of 11 hours of writing, 11,111 words written, on 11/11/11. I think I might finish early!
---
11/11/11 6 p.m. 9,081 words today, for a total of 37,212 so far. I have to leave for a few hours, but have three hours left on the clock and only 2k words to go. Looks like I'll make it, if my hand recovers enough to get my typing speed back up.
---
11/11/11 4:15 p.m. I'm now at 8,012 words for the day, with a total of 36,143, and my left hand is killing me. Time for a quick break I think. I think I'll be able to make the 11k even though my typing is slowing down. But I'll stop the timer during this break, and restart it afterwards. Only a bit over 3.5 hours to go! And the typos are increasing dramatically due to fatigue.
---
11/11/11 2:45. Hit 6,000 words for the day, for a total of 34,131. Still on pace to make my goal. Back to writing now!
---
11/11/11 a bit after 2 p.m. - Now at 5,221 for the day, which brings me to 33,352. Holding steady at about 1k an hour, or more if I take fewer breaks. ;) About six hours to go on the challenge.
---
11/11/11 1 p.m. My pace is slowing a bit as I'm having to do more research on the route. I'm still on pace for at least 11k words today, though, Yay! Currently at 32,406, which is 4,275 words so far today.
---
11/11/11 10:30 a.m. An hour and a half into the 11 hour challenge, and I'm at 2,306 words for the day, for a total of 30,437. This is going well, so far. Two more days of hiking to describe, then my characters will be at their new "home" (which is actually a cave I've been to, so the narration should become a bit more authoritative at that point). Largely pantsing it at this point, with the help of a trail guide book, but I'm following guidelines of notes I've taken about things that have to happen to them. So far, so good! Let's see if I feel this way nine hours from now.
---
11/10/11 11:50 p.m. Only 1830 today, after a very late (nearly 10 p.m.) start, and with a lot of nearly falling asleep as I typed. I'm at 28,131 today...hope to do well in the 11-11-11 11 hr challenge tomorrow and get to 39k? Maybe, if I can figure out the story fast enough as I go! I haven't mapped out this part of the story yet, and only have the roughest idea of what happens next.
---
11/9/11 10 p.m. 2,022 words today, for a total of 26,301. I'm at a good stopping point for now, and have a busy day at work tomorrow, so will think about the next attack for awhile...and write it up tomorrow.
---
11/8/11 10:30 p.m. 2,015 today after a late start, for a total of 24,279. If I didn't have to work tomorrow, I'd press on for the even 25k! But I will easily pass that milestone tomorrow.
---
11/7/11 9:15 p.m. Another 2,150 words today, for a total of 22,264. Not bad, considering I was falling asleep while I was typing for the first hour or so! Yes, I edited some of that, back to what I thought I'd been typing, contrary to NaNo rules. But then the story got interesting when I realized FMC was a former cello player, and I woke up. ;) Thanks, FMC! :D
---
11/6/11 8:38 p.m. 20,114. Ok, so the scene isn't quite finished. But I've typed a TON of words today and I'm kind of tired - and it's at a convenient stopping point. See you all tomorrow!
---
11/6/11 2:47 p.m. 19,274. That was about an hour and a half at the write-in. I'll finish the scene I'm on this evening.
---
11/6/11 11:51 a.m. 17,253. Need to leave for a write-in in a minute. And yes, I wrote myself into a spot where I haven't done outline notes beforehand to know what I'm going to write. BUT - I set up a dream sequence. Dream sequence to the rescue! LOL. This will be SOME nightmare my MMC is about to have....
---
11/6/11 10:45 a.m. Last night just before beginning my evening write, I remembered an urgent task I needed to finish by Sunday noon. So I did that instead of write. Just reached 15,025, my last night's goal, and am poised to take on this morning's writing session.
---
11/5/11 3:30 p.m. Just hit 12,583 - my "morning write" goal - and I'm off to clean house for awhile and figure out what happens in tonight's writing. I plan to hit 15,000 tonight, and get another 5,000 tomorrow for a 10k weekend.
---
11/4/11 Hit 10,000 a little after midnight, and I'm heading off to bed. Plan to try to get close to another 10,000 over the weekend if I can. It's going well when I have time to think about where my story needs to go in the next few scenes, then I write them. I hope the rest of it will continue to come easily when I take time to do that.
---
11/3/11 9:30 p.m. 1911 today, including some research on how to destroy a mid-sized city, and taking a few notes, and still doing tonight's writing with fewer notes than before. Almost pantsing it. The notes for tomorrow's chapter are all of five words...I'll have to expand on that before it is time to write! Total as of tonight: 8194.
---
11/2/11 9 p.m. 2276 today in about 90 minutes, for a total of 6283. Dialogue takes longer to type - all those quote marks! I was on a roll but had to stop because the mood of my story changes dramatically at this point, and I wasn't ready to switch yet! Plus I haven't mapped out the disaster yet. I will work on that (mentally) during the day tomorrow and will see what I can do with it tomorrow evening. Writing seems to go very, very well when I use phase mapping!
---
11/1/11 11 p.m. The end of the first day and I'm at 4007...and finally got to the first real dialogue in the story. I'm rapidly working my way through my plot notes, though, and need to come up with some more details or subsequent days will not go as well - or else I will run out of story long before I get to 50K.
---
11/1/11, 1 a.m. Yes, it is an apocalyptic survival story, and I got 2,015 words in during the first hour of the month. Still don't have a title yet, though!
--
10/25/11 Gah! Perhaps it's really an apocalyptic survival story set in the southwest. I expect to have this figured out by about 11:59 p.m. on October 31st.

10/19/2011: Brilliant physicist Dr. Anderson said something in anger that has irreparably damaged his marriage, and his wife of 20 years is divorcing him. Fortunately, there aren't any children involved. He regrets what he said, and when his wife refuses to accept his apology, he resorts to time travel to various decision points in their relationship, to try to set things straight.
---
10/18/2011: I will update this when I figure out what I'm going to write! It might be about a young woman named Shelby, in the Seattle area.

Excerpt

“Everyone should do an end of the world date sometime. It really brings out the best, or worst, in your partner,” Liz mused in one quiet moment.

“Yes, but they’re difficult to schedule, you know?” Frank said. “You just never know when it’s going to happen.”
