Well, I wrote my first novel in the ninth grade, but understandably it was a bunch of crap with excessive violence and skin-deep characters. Still, I knew from that early age that being a writer was my destiny, and now I'm using this event as a way to kick-start the ol' motivation.
I participated in 2011, and though I did not win, I have since completed the novel I was working on. I'm going to strive even hard to reach the 50K this year, though.
