My name is John Dees and I was born and raised in Mississippi, I studied Psychology at Millsaps College while working nights and weekends at a local video store (dangerous combination). I read almost any type of fiction but I gravitate towards suspense, fantasy, horror, and science fiction. Non-fiction doesn't excite me but it is important for research so I force myself to study and eat my veggies. I've been an IT technical instructor for 13 years, teaching network admins, database programmers, and up-and-coming techs how to better communicate with their computers (the psych degree rears it's head). Like most people here, I've always wanted to be a writer, deciding to forgo the 'starving artist' route in favor of a stable job to support my writing habit. There are two novels that have been banging around in the back of my head for almost ten years now - I'm even making decent progress on one of them - but instead of working on Story #2, I've decided to try my first NaNoWriMo with an idea that smacked me in the forehead about a month ago. I'm really excited to see where it goes from here.
