- Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Shipping News, His Dark Materials trilogy, Freedom, The Stand, Ivan Doig, Gregor the Overlander series, The Sparrow, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. If it doesn't have some dark stuff, I generally don't want to read it.

Thrilled to embark on second year and second novel ever written! Severe writer's block or cluttered brain or something since last year, so this is the kick-start I need to start writing again. Life is busy -- mom, wife, teacher, daughter, overachiever, easily distracted, avoider of house-cleaning, procrastinator, daydreamer, obsessor. Need humor and music, as well as a significant quantity of chocolate, to keep me going.
