Susannah Eanes is a certified land-use planner and cartographer by education, and has an extensive background in public service across the South. Having minored in ballet in college, she also taught dance for several years. While at home when her children were small, she studied eighteenth and nineteenth century clothing construction under experts at the Smithsonian, Old Sturbridge Village, the University of Rhode Island and the Winterthur Museum. In turn, her teaching and demonstration work with local and state museums has been featured in articles in The Charlotte Observer, The State, The Item, The Lancaster County News and other publications and living history periodicals.

Fluent in French and conversant in several languages, Susannah feels she always expressed herself best in the written word, beginning with the faithful keeping of journals as a young writer. Winner of a Virginia Highlands Short Story Writing Award in August 1995 for “The Burning of Nellie’s Mountain,” she has since contributed articles, poems, interviews, and short stories for special-interest journals, online news sites, and regional periodicals, and also served as editor of Project Laundry List’s international newsletter, Hanging Out! She enjoys all types of fiber and needle crafts, music, yoga, being outdoors and spending time with her family. She still journals nearly every day, blogs somewhat infrequently, participates in online writing communities including LiveJournal, the Organization for Transformative Works, and NaNoWriMo, and at any given moment has more than a few works-in-progress.
