Author bio:

I'm currently a Residential Counselor for children with behavioral and emotional problems. It's an emotionally and physically challenging job, but it has its moments and every so often, I'm reminded of why I took the job in the first place. I mention my job because much of my writing lately has drawn heavily from my experiences and emotions regarding the position. In fact, it's the inspiration of my NaNoWriMo Novel 2011. I have this internal debate on the use of psychotropic medications with children; going to college for a degree in Psych, I did a considerable amount of research on the subject. These drugs aren't meant for kids, and we're teaching them to either hate medications or to rely on them. However, I also know that without these medications, some of these kids would be beyond our abilities. Thus resides my inspiration. (Not to mention the tantrums, the ideations, the things yelled, the spitting, the assault, and all the other things mixed in.)

I look forward to getting to know other WriMos in my region, and this year, I hope to win!
