Author bio:

Born in Boston, grew up in Florida, went to Yale & New Mexico State, joined Peace Corps, translator/journalist Paris/Saigon/Mexico. 45 years' English/Spanish court/conference/seminar/escort interpreter. Translator of two excellent novels by writer/journalist Hector Aguilar Camin. Parise by author (who in years past was awarded a Guggenheim and now has his own show on Mexican television; US publishers could care less about translated Mexican Fiction unless written by Octavio Paz, Juan Rulfo or Carlos Fuentes. Have recently worked on a tale I completed long ago about Saigon in the late 1960s and prelapsarian 70s. It was originally conceived as contemporary fiction but now comes on as a historical novel. Which is fine by me; I enjoy trying to do it better this time around. Married to the same woman for 42 years with 3 kids in their 30s: musician daughter (recently in pit orchestra in Boston for Porgy and Bess as directed by Diane Paulus, excoriated by Stephen Sondheim, and raved about by Hilton Als.), artist daughter (See acridcolors.com; she'll do your portrait free if you're in Boston; other recent project: 201 variations on three trees); and soldier son (three Iraq tours).
