Author bio:

I have had a long fascination with ESP, science fiction, fantasy, and science in general which are all important subjects in Kennst Academy. Kennst Academy is the beginning of my Folding Space series that focuses on a specific multigenerational family and involves a futuristic world of an out of control government that is quick to exploit the genetic talents of its citizens.

Authors that have directly influenced my imagination and love for writing include: Asimov, Bradbury, Orwell, Huxley, Wells, Verne, Card, Goodkind, Clark, McCaffrey, White, Heinlein, Lofting, L’Engle, Bach, Tolkein, Vonnegut, Kaku, and Dr. Seuss.

I currently reside in Murfreesboro, N.C. with my husband, Jim Guthrie, and my cat, Jonas. I teach biology, animal behavior, invertebrate zoology, and microbiology at Chowan University where I am an associate professor and play violin in the Meherrin Chamber Orchestra directed by her husband-composer.
