Our annual "Thank God It's Over" celebration of words written, things achieved, and family members not strangled is this Saturday, from 6:30 - 11:00 pm. Come join us in the festivities and revelry! Details and RSVP are here.
Victory is so close we can taste it! Come to the Millwoods Write in to add to your word count pile.
In the meantime, we recommend that you have a chair dance party when you reach a major goal to keep your energy and focus up.
Our (K)night of the Living Spec is tomorrow. We're really excited to give out the surprise goodies and see what happens at resurrection o'clock. See you there!
We have an epic weekend ahead of us! Firstly, the splinter event Weekend of Wars in the #edmontonwrimos chatroom is going strong from 6 pm Friday, Nov. 9 to Sunday, Nov. 11, just in time to head over to the Overnighter write-in at Denny's in the west end. There will also be a splinter write-in at Cha Island on Whyte Ave Saturday afternoon, 2-5 pm.
I expect those word counts to soar. We'll catch up to Calgary yet!
We’re off to a great start, wrimos! We’ve had our first write-in (online and in-person), we’ve had our first Adopt a Day winner, we’ve had a few brief ceremonies in our character graveyard, we’ve designed the ultimate battle standards, and we’ve each written between 1667 and 3335 words (or more!)
Our next event is at the Strathcona Library Write-in on Saturday the 3rd, followed by the Lois Hole Library Write-in on the 6th. See you there!
Only three days left until NaNo begins! We'll be counting down the minutes and flailing about with excitement at the NaNoEve Online Countdown in the chatroom then getting a few solid hours of writing under our belts at the First Day Write-in.
The Kickoff Party is coming up soon! Join us on October 27th in the afternoon for food, fun, games, and door prizes. Click for more information and RSVP.
Afterwards we're heading to the Edmonton Public Library's interactive screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Join us!
The countdown to NaNo continues! Our first official event of 2012 is this Saturday. We're excited to announce that author Thomas Wharton will be joining us to answer all of your burning questions about how to write a novel. Join us at the No Plot? No Problem!/Pre-November Plot Planning Party!
Welcome, everyone! Please stop in at our welcome thread and introduce yourself!
While you’re exploring the clean new forums and waiting impatiently (or trepidatiously) for NaNo to begin, please make sure to affiliate with Edmonton AND set Edmonton as your Home Region so that your words and donations count in our totals. Thanks!

Welcome, new wrimos! Welcome back, Edmowrimos!
As you can see, there have been a few changes already this year. Learan (Nikki) has resigned from the ML team and we have been joined by Paige Knorr. She comes to us with a wealth of skills, having spent four months as an intern at NaNo Headquarters (the Office of Letters and Light) last year. We're lucky to have Paige on the team.
Feel free to flex your writing fingers and add a line to our Continuous Story while you wait for NaNo to rev up for 2012!
Are you ready? Camp NaNoWriMo starts June 1 at 12:01!
Camp NaNoWriMo is like a mini-NaNo novel writing adventure during June or August (or both if you want to!) You still write 50,000 words, but it’s more campy. It's an entirely online adventure, so there are no MLs, counsellors or in-person meet ups. This means that you have the freedom to sneak out after dark to write and, unlike camp in real life, you don't get stuck with the bunk in the leaky corner with the squirrel!
You can sign up for Camp NaNoWriMo using your nanowrimo login. Instead of the massive message boards, there are small cabins of 6-8 wrimos where you can get to know your fellow writers a little more in depth and unlike real camp you have some influence over who is in your cabin, so you don't have to share with the kid who picks his nose and mysteriously smells like Cheetos all the time (unless you want to - we're not judging).
Welcome to the home of the Edmowrimo Literary Ninjas! Since you've stopped by, join in on our continuous story!
It's been an amazing month, thank you everyone! This Saturday, Dec 3 we'll celebrate the end of NaNoWriMo at the TGIO Party. In the meantime, tell us about your experience!
The official last minute write-ins are today! Join the in-person write-in at Milner Library (Downtown) to finish your novel or cheer on other winners as they finish theirs. Then join in the fun in the #edmontonwrimos chatroom as we race the clock in the final virtual write-inof NaNoWriMo 2011.
Have you hit 50,000 words? Validate your novel to get your pretty purple bar and winner goodies and then tell us about it !
Edmowrimos on a (Mind)bender* is this Saturday! If you're ready for a break come join us at West Ed for a bit of fun before getting back to writing. Details in the thread below.
*Mindbender Optional
